I'm new at this, so hi everyone here!!! NAME: Jone FAVORITE FILMS: Bringing up Baby, Alice Adams, Pat and Mike, the African Queen, Lion in winter, Guess who's coming to dinner and Adam's Rib. FAVORITE FILM OF ALL TIME: Too hard to choose... but I've to say The African Queen. FAVORITE PERFORMANCE: COMEDY: Bringing up Baby DRAMA: Lion in winter HOW I BECAME A FAN: It was I think 7 months ago, I was watching TV and saw her in Undercurrent. I just loved her, I was amazed. And that night I watched The Philadelphia Story; I just needed to watch her movies. I was hypnotized. PS. I'm from Spain, so maybe I make mistakes with my English, please forgive me.

Hello everyone, another newbie here!
I'm from and I live in Greece. A few years ago, my love for Barbra Streisand led me to Kate and I've been a fan ever since. See Streisand starred in the 1972 movie "What's up, doc?" which is an homage to screwball comedies and is loosely based on "Bringing up baby" starring Cary Grant and Kate as we all know. So I had to search for it and watch. I did (and really liked it).
Other movies followed over the years - The lion in winter (which I also picked to see because of the 1969 Streisand Oscar tie), Adam's rib, The Philadelphia story, The Trojan women, Guess who's coming to dinner, Stage door & On golden pond (two favorites of mine) and only yesterday Woman of the year! I tell you, when I heard Kate speak greek with that cute american accent I became a liiittle more of a fan than I already was.
Anyway, this is getting long -- very glad to be here and... ¡viva Kate!

the meandering, interdisciplinary, liberal arts, overlapping interests part of my brain just LOVES your story, violettagr! one great thing just leads to another, doesn't it? streisand to hepburn ... can't beat that. (well, in my case, throw in garland too and you have a trifecta ... but we'll get to that .. ) welcome to the forum!

Could you translate for us what Kate says to the little boy Chris when she returns him to the orphanage in Woman of Year? And what he says to her? I've always loved that scene and still am moved every time I see it - it's played so well. Without understanding a word they speak literally, one can feel what they are saying. But I'd love to know what they actually say. Judy

Ciao star! I'm miss maxwell on the Judy forum -- but, like I said, rarely post. Do you have the same nickname on there?
This has gone a bit (a lot? lol) off topic (= guestbook) -- feel free to split the topic from my introduction and on, dear mods - unless it's ok.
