I think you've started something Shaun Name: Catherine (aka Cathy, Cath, Cate and Cat) Favorite Films: The Philadelphia Story, Bringing Up Baby, Adam's Rib, Desk Set, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Woman of the Year, On Golden Pond, Alice Adams, A Delicate Balance, Holiday Favorite Film of All Time: Impossible for me to answer. Of Kate's... if I had to choose, like I said in another post, it would probably be BUB. But it depends on my mood. I'm moody. Favorite Performance: Comedy: BUB Drama: I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Adam's Rib because... it is SORT of a drama. There ARE dramatic scenes... Long Day's Journey is probably her best dramatic performance if you want to go by everyone else's idea of drama How I became a fan: My dad read the Berg biography and recommended it to me. He also recommended Cary Grant, Dean Martin, Adolf Hitler and Howard Hughes biography but this is the only one I actually REALLY wanted to read after the stories he told me about her. That was last February, I think. So it's only been four months. I'm kind of annoyed with myself for living in oblivion for the past 24 years Comments: Kate Hepburn should be an example to everyone on how to live one's life. If I had it my way, I would make it a rule that, beginning in Kindergarten, all children shall watch KH movies and learn about her life as if she was Socrates until they graduate high school... the world would be a better place Or instead of saying the world would be a better place, I should say, people will realize the world is a wonderful place.

Name: Nicholas
Favorite Kate films: The Philadelphia Story, Bringing Up Baby, The Lion in Winter, Summertime.
Favorite Comedy: Bringing up Baby
Favorite Drama: Long Day's Journey Into Night
How I became a fan: My mother for some reason or another is to blame. We went to the library and were searching the video section and she saw "Bringing Up Baby." "Oh you'll like this," she said. I did, but it wasn't until several years later that I caught it again on Turner Classic Movies followed by The Philadelphia Story and I was mesmerized. This unusual angular beauty was verbally throwing the best punches at Cary Grant, with the best hint of sarcasm and wit possible. For some reason, I became more and more enamored with her and I had the desire to see more of her films. I bought her autobiography "Me," and I was mesmorized by this courageous, independent, and unrestricted woman, who refused to go by society's rules and lived her own life. I soon sought out more of her films and began collecting them and searching for ones made only on video, and for some shown only on TCM.
I've read "Kate Remembered," and currently ordered "Katharine Hepburn Said...Great Lines to Live By," and "Katharine Hepburn: Star as Feminist."

Hi Nicholas I picked up Star as Feminist a couple months ago. Good luck with that. You'll definitely need to be wide awake and focused. It's a difficult read!

This is a thank you and a note of appreciation for this site -- it's amazing. I'm working on a book on Kate, and this has been terrific--from the radio broadcasts and the trailers to the transcript of the Cavett interview. You all have done Kate very proud!

Yup, Shaun. Right in the 'Her Life' section. Omg, the part about the space between her toes is soo funny. Read it NOW. The audio version of it is available on ebay, but not the video. I'm still waiting. . . This site has a lot of really nice radio shows, too. If you haven't already found it: brisbin.net/Tracy-Hepburn/

In the "Private Life of KH" article from that link it says she went to Bryn Mawr with the intention of becoming a psychologist. Where did that come from? How does someone major in History and Philosophy and intend to be a psychologist? ;D

Dang school! I don't have nearly enough time to read (and listen) to all the great stuff on this site. I planned on watching The Lion in Winter and Suddenly, Last Summer again, but nope--my plans were dashed.

NAME: Aurélie FAVORITE FILMS: African queen, lion in the winter, mrs Delafiels wants to marry, holiday, adam's rib, on golden pond, pat and mike FAVORITE FILM OF ALL TIME: The lion in the winter FAVORITE PERFORMANCE: COMEDY - pat and mike DRAMA - the lion in the winter HOW I BECAME A FAN: I watched by chance on french tv (i'm french) the rain maker and the actress, katharine hepburn, surprised me. Before i knew only Audrey and Katharine was only the other hepburn, she's not very famous in france. But when i watched african queen it was a revelation !!! Since this moment 2000, I try to find and watch all her movies, but it's difficult in france. I manage to have 26 movies, but it's not enough : there's so much film I have to watch. COMMENTS - I didn't like how cate blanchett played katharine hepburn, it's was a caricature. The book Me was very funny. I'd like there would have more DVD box, and Dvd of katharine hepburn, because there are movie almost impossible to watch, bill of divorcement, woman rebels etc

Hi. It's nice to seen people from all different countries visiting the site. Isn't it sad that Kate isn't famous in France? She's considered a national treasure here in the states. You and I are in agreement Aurelie--I didn't care for Blanchett's performance either...it was definitely a caricature! I am glad that she got the Oscar though; I felt the Academy was really honoring Katharine Hepburn-not Cate Blanchett's performance.
Welcome to the site.

Hey Aurélie! Welcome! Like Shaun said, it is nice to have people from other countries on here. Oh, and I love your avatar. And Audrey isn't the ONLY cool Hepburn. As far as I'm concerned there is only ONE Hepburn... and her name is most certainly not Audrey! Hope to see you around!
