It seems very few of us have access to any rare or original Kate memorabilia, so what do we all collect then?
I suspect it's pretty much the same for most of us fans - DVDs, videos, books and magazine articles. Do any of you actually arrange clippings & photos in albums or collect any more unusual Kate-related stuff? And has anyone ever conversed with/interviewed anyone who personally knew Kate?

I don't collect them but I have seen and have copies of Katharine's correspondence to a friend in Australia - The collection of letters starts in 1955 and continues until Katharine's friend died in 1990 . I have some very rare pictures of Katharine taken while in Australia as well as some very rare film footage of Katharine and Robert Helpmann in Australia . I do know people who have met Katharine including some who post in this site . Its up to them as to whether they wish to discuss it .

I bought the Tracy and Hepburn signature collection DVD box set and the Desk Set DVD yesterday. I recommend both to all. My goal is to get all of the Hepburn DVDs there are and throw out all of my VHS tapes.
When I say "throw out" I mean re-use. I'm too cheap to toss out a good VHS ;D

I personally like to collect vintage paper memorabilia...original movie ads, star endorsments, magazine covers....basically, im an ebay addict!!
I have found a lot of Kate through EBAY and local antique stores.

I'd love to have some replica movie posters, especially one from Bringing Up Baby; real ones are probably too expensive. Lately I've been looking for Kate posters...with no luck.
What does everyone think of buying autographs off ebay? How legitimate do you think they are? Oh, wait isn't against ebay rules to sell fakes?

They're not always legitimate. You really just need to know what the star's signature looks like. I've seen a couple that are obviously not Kate's... I personally don't buy autographs. I'd prefer to have an autograph that I acquired myself -- except I don't ask for autographs. I just say Hi or gawk. Depending on who it is. So I pretty much am never going to have an autograph! (except for Sheryl Crow's which a friend got for me at a signing).

I wouldn't trust what is sold on EBAY...even if it came with a COA...but I suppose if the person isn't alive to get a real autograph, then a 'supposed' one is better than nothing. Catherine--thats SO cool that you have Sheryl's autograph! I love her--she been one of my favorites since I was like 8! lol--shes great

I was walking through town to the library yesterday and in the window of a shop there was a great poster/canvas print of The African Queen. I'm going to find somewhere to hang it before I go to get it.

Ooh how much did it cost? You may have a great find on your hands. I should keep my eyes peeled for things like that.

Wow, on canvas you say? I expect it'll be pretty pricey - I'd be interested to know the cost too.

Gem, you seem to be lucky over in the UK! Was it you who said The African Queen came in your Sunday papers? And now a TAQ poster! Seems to be a popular movie over there You guys have more sense and taste than we Americans, obviously. ;D

Actually, it's a funny thing, because they showed The African Queen on the TV today!! I had only watched it last weekend, but I couldn't very well not have it on. Yes, it was me who said that it was free with a newspaper a couple of months ago, as well as On Golden Pond (not at the same time). I can't remember how much exactly the print was, but I remember thinking it wasn't very expensive at all - just under £10, I think. It wasn't that big. I didn't get a good look at it as the shop was shut and it was in the window so I'm not sure what the quality was like. It didn't look tacky or anything though. Still haven't decided where I might put it yet but will be going into town in the week so when I get it I shall send you a picture in if you like!

I think we would all like to see a picture Wow, free Kate movies, frequent airings of AQ, and a print of AQ! There sure is an abundance of all things Kate Hepburn over there, which something I would die for. Unfortunately, I live in Podunk, USA where I'm lucky if I meet anyone who has even heard of Kate!

Welcome to my world, Shaun ;D During Thanksgiving, I asked my grandmother if she remembered going to Kate movies when she was younger. She said she loved KH! And started telling me the only time anyone saw her in a dress was in the movies... and she had a sharp wit... etc. I'm just nodding my head, like, yeah, I know! It's kind of like traveling back in time when you talk to someone who actually lived while Kate was still acting.

The dress thing is really interesting because for the first couple of years in Hollywood Katharine was clearly experimenting with clothes and when she wore a dress she often looked uncomfortable . There was a few fashion disasters there
And the sometimes quoted story that Spencer put pressure on Katharine to wear a dress - I don't believe that was the usual case although there might have been a few times when wearing trousers caused too much of a hassle.
