Today I picked up a copy of The Girl Who Walked Home Alone: Bette Davis a Personal Biography and already I've flown threw the first 40 pages. It's a terrific read so far.

I finished that Bette book a couple of days ago. There weren't as many laugh-your-ass-off anecdotes that are in Kate biogs but it was still a good read. Dark Victory is currently at the top of my Bette Must See list.

Shaun, definitely watch Dark Victory as soon as you get the chance - one of Bette's finest performances, along with The Letter, All About Eve and.... and.... I'm hoping to get the book soon - can't wait to read it even if it is short on anecdotes.

I'm hoping to get the book soon - can't wait to read it even if it is short on anecdotes. I have the book, too, and it's quite wonderful because it's almost an "as told to" book and most of the words are Bette's. People are always comparing her and Kate - their careers, their lives. I think there were maybe some New England similarities, but I find them to be entirely different people. Completely. Love em both, though. Judy

The funniest line in the book was towards the end where Bette was recieving a lifetime achievement award or something. She was on stage, surveying the lavish setting about to address the group and the first words she said were "what a dump." ;D

I should buy a Bette Davis biography, and a Joan Crawford one, too. But instead I've opt for Ginger: My Life by Ginger Rogers. It should be quite interesting when I read it.

After the film noir book I'm reading now and the Garbo one I'll read next, I'll probably read Lauren Bacall's book. I read a few pages of it in the bookstore, the ones the dealt with Kate. It's become a habit with me to flip to the index and look under the Hs when ever I pick up a book nowadays. Even if the subject is oh, say....the Civil War. Obsessed? A little bit ;D

I'd check the index of every biography or film-related book I picked up in the book shop or library and read all the Kate paragraphs - or even mere phrases - first. Quite an interesting way to gather lots of info in a reasonably short time actually, although there's nothing beats reading a whole book about Kate (the good ones that is)

Nah. Who'd ever do a thing like that? :-) Judy (oops; I just aswered my own question)

LMAO...
Yeah....Kath fans don't so obsessive things like that...they BUY the book that has ONE line of Kate (even if it's wrong information, even more so reason to buy it because you can mark the whole page up later!) in it and take it home with them!!! YEY!
OR... You find a magazine in a grocery store line that has "100 Cute Things To Do With You Special Someone" and have a fun time imagining KatenSpence or any other couple in the proposed situations such as:
"If she's shorter than you, let her dance on your toes." "Let him find you asleep in one of his t-shirts"
BUT OH NO! The line is getting shorter and you're at the start of it, so what do you do? You GET OUT of the line and grab your things and pretend to be looking for something while you secretly read and squeal over the cuteness in that magazine. And you end up buying it anyway so you can squee in your room in private.
I'm not obsessed............ ::eye roll::

As I finish the university, I can make up for time and read novels again. Last week, I read La louve de france and Le lys et le lion, two volume of Les rois maudits of Maurice Druon, an historical fresco of medieval kings : betray, love, power, murder .... all that made history of France and England. Now, I'm reading the devil wears Prada, I love it...

LOL Wow, how did I miss the whole discussion on obsessive searching the indexes of the most unrelated-to-Kate books?? I mean. . . maybe I don't look in books on the Civil War but if it's about old Hollywood. . . . or fashion. . . or cultural influences . . . gotta look under Hepburn. ;D So good to know I'm not the only one. For some reason that's comforting. Although now I think since other people do it, someone surely has seen me going to the index and flipping to a page then going back to the index. . . and flipping back. Must have been laughing to themselves hehe
Right now I'm reading The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle and Intimacy by Osho. Very new age. . . I really need to get Devil Wears Prada! Even though I already have two books going at the same time.
