I've noticed the same thing with some 'Password' episodes that featured Joan Crawford as the guest. They appeared on Youtube some time ago and now I can't seem to find them. Also, I just discovered that GSN (Game Show Network) does broadcast 'What's My Line?' seven nights week. But unfortunately 'Password' (the original) doesn't seem to be on their scheduled programming anymore.
Thanks for the tidbit Martha.

If anyone is interested in hearing Tallulah Bankhead exchange jokes with Miss Garland on a radio program, here you go: youtube.com/watch?v=nMJ-GEgB9CQFunny stuff, even the ones with Marlene Dietrich.

just in case anyone is keeping track of factoids like these .. .. this clip is from the tallulah bankhead-hosted show 'the big show' .. this episode aired on the radio on february 11, 1951. at some point in this same show (earlier i believe) tallulah introduces judy garland as "judy holiday" ... bankhead was much chagrined by her gaffe and attempts to explain after garland's oddly introduced musical performance .. that judy holiday had guested on the show recently .. ah, live radio .. nothing like it...

richard .. your knowledge of THE BIG SHOW as a series (short as it was apparently) has far outstripped my own. thanks for sharing this context. all i knew of the show was a few snippets .. and of course the judy episode. my monomania you know .. very cool, this stuff. and goes to show ... one passionate interest leads in many unexpected directions ... onward ...

selections from the garland february 11, 1951 appearance on "the big show" (and other selections from other shows) are posted currently on a yahoo group (you need to join but its worth it!) that focuses on rare recordings of judy. movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/thejudygarlandexperience/radio appearances, pre-recordings from judy's 1963-1964 television show (that have NEVER been heard publicly before) ... are posted there now, amidst other files. concert bootleg recordings appear regularly. its an amazing resource, this group. i participate in several on-line boards and discussion groups dedicated to garland and all have something to offer. for rare recordings by garland, including radio appearances (and often related performers too) ... and files that are refreshed quite often . ... this group is hard to beat.

I celebrated her birthday by watching ''Little Nellie Kelly''. She is so adorable in it.

Garland Movie In The Works
I read that book years ago and I honestly can't remember a thing from it. Martha, if you can remember when I asked you what you thought of the book, and how much grain of salt to take with it, you said lots! Well, this can't be good then.

I can't imagine anyone playing Judy Garland better than Judy Davis did. She was amazing in that tv biopic.

i'm of many minds (is this possible?) about this announced optioned book for a biopic. as we all know, books that are optioned for films can be a bible or just a starting point or in the end have nothing whatsoever to do with the final screenplay and filmed product. so part of me says ... well, at least this indicates ongoing interest in the life of judy garland and perhaps (perhaps) a quality product will result. ... the GET HAPPY book as a book is not, however, held in high regard by most garland fans. some few say they like it because it addresses (and i'd say with hypotheses) parts of judy's private life .. yeah sexuality and all that stuff. bah. most however (and most of the folks actively involved in writing about her career, etc.) aren't fond of the book.
so ... i'm intrigued to see what happens of all this. and wary.
i would love to see a good number of women as writers, design people, etc. get involved in the production. ....
