13 days Right .. that's what I thought too ... no time is never an excuse - time is just matter of priorities ... and so Kate was not on his high priority list anymore I suppose. I still find it hard to believe that she wanted to be exposed like that - gave her blessing I mean .. especially the last chapter ... I always get teary eyes reading that.

I know that it's stupid to take up again Mann's book but somebody has given me the spanish version of it , months after I'd get rid of the original version in english and as my english must be improved (and because sometimes I'm a little obsessive) I was revising some things and then I've just found that, among the lot of things he has falsified, he lies about the Dick Cavett Interview. He says at the Acknowledgements page that he found in this particular website (katethegreat.net) "a complete transcript of the important 1973 interview with Dick Cavett". So I'm sure he even hasn't bothered to look for the video interview or if he did he didn't care a bit, because this transcript is incomplete. And I know it very well because it's very hard for me to understand english sometimes, and I always manage to have some kind of help. In this transcript, at least 25 minutes on the second part are missing, and I know it very well because I had to watch this part double time than all the other part (gladly of course). What kind of investigation is this? And I'm sure the rest of the inquiries were made in the same way. maripax

Ooo! This is a VERY helpful thread! See, I LOVE reading autobiographies and biographies (they're pretty much all I read) and I typically like to research to make sure I'm reading the most accurate ones first (if it's someone I'm extremely interested in, such as Kate, then I like to eventually track down most, if not all, written on them just out of curiosity, but I like the most accurate first). I've already read both of Kate's books many times over, so I decided it was time to get some biographies too. So, anyway, I just recently found this wonderful little used bookstore not too far from where I live that I've visited twice in the past few weeks and picked up 'Kate Remembered,' Kanin's 'Tracy and Hepburn,' Higham's book, Anne Edward's book (which I assumed wasn't all that accurate based on her bio on Judy Garland), and Darwin Porter's book, all for half the cover price on each. So, to make a long story short, thanks to everyone in this thread, I know which I shall be reading first and which will be sitting on the shelf for a while.

I say you got a good haul except for Darwin Porter's book. Drench that one in lighter fluid and strike a match.

Okay so I found this book that really just looks like a picture book with Kate photos. I'm so annoyed I didn't find the title. I might go back to the shops today and find it. Can someone check back here and tell me if it's worth my precious saved money?!
Thanks y'all! I'll try to pick up the title today. It was a little book considering it was pretty much all pictures. But they looked beautiful. Not something I would call a biography at all... hmmm sounding familiar to anyone lol?

Jess, it could be the book published by LIFE after Kate died. Or maybe the one by John Bryson, The Private World of Katharine Hepburn, which consists mainly of pictures from the 60s onward. Both are good buys.

Taschen, "Movie Icons: K. Hepburn", 2007 (great pictures, loads of them!)
Karbo, K, "How to Hepburn: Lessons on Living from Kate the Great", 2007 (no pictures)
Are any of these any good? Thanks all!

Hi Shaun and dreamer,
I'm guessing one of them is possibly the LIFE one but with a different cover. I went to the book store and got the title!
Taschen, "Movie Icons: K. Hepburn", 2007 It looks like there's little blurbs written by different authors. Although mostly great pictures. It's not a big book though! It's not much bigger than a normal book size. That LIFE book looks gorgeous, dreamer. Looks like a great big sized book.

The Movie Icons book is relatively new. It's part of a series which includes books about Greta Garbo, Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman etc. I don't have though I've seen it and it's nice. don't know much about Karen Karbo's book.

Shaun, yes you're right. It's really new. It's definately not the LIFE one everyone keeps talking about. It just looks nice, if just for the photographs..
