I thought you might find this interesting. A remake of 1939's "The Women" www.imdb.com/title/tt0430770/It's coming out September 12. Meg Ryan, Debra Messing, Candice Bergen, Eva Mendes...bunch of famous people. Looks okay but nothing will top the original of course, with Rosalind Russell and Joan Crawford. I get pissed when they remake movies like this but whatever. The movie looks nothing like the old one. I would be PISSED if they remade The Philadelphia Story or Bringing Up Baby! Here's a trailer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jijrQ2XWPo0

It looks like they tried to give it the Sex and the City touch.

True. Gah, I don't know. I think I'd like it if it was more like the original. We'll just have to wait and see when it comes out. The trailer looks nothing at all like the original film, but I don't know.

Can you judge a movie by the trailer (if so, don't go and see Australia, it looks baaad - but then I am NOT a big fan of Nicole Kidman)? I wasn't impressed by the trailer to The Women at all. Fabulous actresses but the dialogue wasn't exactly ... crackling! Not like the original. How can you replace Ros Russell, Marjorie Maine etc. They just don't make em like that any more!!

I can't stand remakes though I found out many years after seeing it that An Affair to Remember was a remake and I might add a very good one. There are very few if not nearly none of the remakes that match up to the original in any way at all ! I also have a problem with all these tv shows that seem to morph into movies ! It seems as if Hollywood can't be original ! Or it seems that way lately anyway

I've been hearing about this movie for two years now and I am still against it. They can't touch the original. Plus Meg Ryan has had so much work done, wow...
