OMG! For some reason I never knew she appeared at Night of 100 Stars. I always thought it was a prerecorded clip she was in. You made my day dreamer.

They were: Sidney Lumet, Sylvester Stallone, Helen Hayes, Michael Caine, Joseph Mankiewicz and Liv Ullmann....from memory; I may have forgotten someone. I was there that night and do remember the standing O she got....Note how there was applause for every one of her clips. Sounds little on the video, but one could feel the excitement in the room. Or maybe that was just me. No. I remember it well; it was electric.

There were three Night of 100 Stars evenings. They all took place at Radio City Music Hall and all were connected to the Actors' Fund. And I think they were all telecast. The first was in 1982 and marked the Fund's 100th anniversary. It was a 3-hour televised show. But if you were in the audience, as I was, the show went on for 5 or 6 hours. Lots of down time. Bacall was at that one...and 99-plus other stars. There was another in 1985 and I cannot for the life of me remember if I went to that one. Will have to check for some clue at home. But the third - the one with Kate - was in 1990. They were produced by Alex Cohen and written by his wife Hildy Parks (they were also the producer/writer of the Tony Awards shows when they were the great Tony shows of years past).

Back track, Judy.. you were THERE!? You were in the same room as Miss Hepburn, the greatest actress that ever was!? WOW what an honour. I always thought events like that were by invitation only. Or was it? I have to say, that is just about the quickest Kate tribue I've ever seen. The Tracy moments were nice, quick and to the point. I bet loads of people were in tears.
Loved seeing that little bit of Alice Adams. Coming from someone that hasn't seen the film, I hate when with tributes like this, they always play the same section that we always see over and over again. So this was a nice change, seeing a little from a different scene!

Or was it? jess, if you ask judy really really nicely (or just flip through past threads on ths forum) you'll see that she was in the same room with miss hepburn more than once (seeing her on stage, backstage, sigh) ... i also saw miss hepburn on stage a few times, but our miss judy ... well, i was going to say "wins" but that's not the sentiment ... judy is most honored with in person sightings perhaps. yeah. honor. that's what i meant ..

WHOA! Thanks martha and thanks for the link dreamer, I read Judy's story. Heart warming! Inspiring! Sensational! How blessed we are on this humble Kate forum to have someone among us that has had the honour of meeting with the woman we are in awe of.
And thanks to Judy for sharing the stories we can only dream of!

I've been checking in but have been so busy at work that I haven't had a moment to spare to respond. Glad you liked my story, Jess. Wish I could remember more about the meeting, but it was so long ago. Before some of you were born :-). I DO remember, though, how she looked and sounded and how freakin' nervous I was! It was great.
