So, I guess I just want some new things to talk about...
Has anyone visited Fenwick or her New York apartment? I think it was on here that someone said they had or knew someone who had... Maybe we've already discussed it but I swear I'm early Alzheimers ;D

No but I'd like to see both! Was it on this forum where someone said that a fan bought the New York house and planned on turning it into a [Hepburn] museum? I can't even remeber if this is true...maybe I'm a candidate for early Alzheimers too ;D

I think I read that somewhere but then someone on here said someone else bought it... not a fan. I don't know. lol I'm visiting New York in a couple of months. I hope I'll have time to go to 49th street. What am I saying??? Of course I'll have time. I'll make time. ;D

Do us all a favor and take LOTS of pictures of Kate's house on 49th street. That would be a real treat!

A fan did buy the house but the house is on a crowded New York street - there is no way it could be made into a museum .

Sadly, the house has been gutted and the interior is being redone. It was old and probably needed a restoration, but I don't think what's being done is a restoriation. I think it's been totally gutted. So when you get here, Catherine, it will probably not look as it did. Judy

AH! I hate it when they do that to "historic landmarks" ;D As for being a museum on a crowded street, it's totally possible. I used to work in one (Andrew Carnegie's old house at that -- on 5th Avenue! The house was more of a mansion but still... I think it's possible). I hope it's still being considered... And I will still take pictures. I'm thinking the exterior will be the same. I wouldn't be able to see the interior anyway. PS I would also like to point out that the Guggenheim and the Met are also on 5th avenue, farther south so it is more crowded than the museum where I worked. Pretty much every street from Midtown down is busy and crowded during the day which helps rather than impedes business.

Judy do you live in New York too? It seems like everyone here is from someplace more interesting than where I'm from...Kentucky stinks.

The only time I thought New York sucked was when I went to Times Square or was broke I love NY... I hate even thinking about the fact that I moved! By the way Shaun: no place can be more boring and completely frustrating than Topeka, Kansas. We're the home of Fred Phelps (maybe you've heard of him -- head of his own cult called Westboro Baptist Church which pickets funerals of gay people all over the country or anywhere else there are large groups of people with signs like "God Hates Fags" and "Thank God for 9/11". He's very intelligent. In fact he made the mistake of going to San Francisco where he got tomatoed.).

Catherine
I pretty much had the same experience this year - I arrived in New York at the end of a trip with my credit card maxed out and very little money - I did manage to see a production of Little Women with Jo Sutton - a musical which was surprisingly good .
Fortunately I met up with a kind angel Judy who whisked me off to Hartford where I got to see some of the places where Katharine lived .
And you are not going to believe this but that night I met a guy in New York who tried to impress me and one of his opening comments was that he preferred women to wear skirts rather than trousers - the more things change...

smith, did you let him have it? I can practically feel how upset you must of been.
I think Catherine takes the cake for most boring place to live...I'm yawning just thinking about it.

No I didn't let him have it though I wished that I had Katharine's wit and it was pretty ironic that it happened after doing the Katharine Hepburn tour that very day .
Something like - well you might not find me attractive when I wear pants but I assure you there are men with different tastes - or slacks not pants ...
Catherine - you definitely need to move - where you live sounds awful . ( no offence )

Hmm. There's a Katharine Hepburn tour? Is this an official thing or did you just walk around on your own visiting places that would be of interest to a KH fan?
I really admire Kate's quick wit. Her comebacks were funny yet sophisticated.
