What could these two possibly have in common that would warrant a documentary about the two? Has anyone seen this?

That's funny. Maybe the complete opposites that they are? I visited some Marilyn Monroe sites just because I've never actually read anything about her and have only seen a couple of her movies. I realized, after seeing so many pictures of her, why there was such an appeal. She was beautiful in her younger years (before she started acting like a sex kitten). She seemed to be happy all the time (ignorance is bliss?). But I still don't get why people consider her a great actress.

I consider her a great icon rather than a great actress. She's good. I like her.

Icon would be a better word. But what makes her iconic? I just would like to know what the fascination is all about from the point-of-view of someone who is a Marilyn fan...

Well, in my opinion, she's attractive. And she's got this voice that can just break a guy into a million pieces... but maybe that's just me. She is also, in my opinion, and will always be the quintessential blonde of Hollywood. She was pretty bankable too, at the time. I don't know really... I guess everything from her infamous subway scene from The Seven Year Itch to her platinum blonde hair, even to the many men she had affairs with. I'm not a BIG fan of Marilyn Monroe , but I have noticed her.

I've seen it. It's baaad. Very, very baaad. The usual cut-and-paste with not much attention paid to little things - like facts.
A few scenes from STAGE DOOR are part of the clips. The rest consist of still photos with the lousy narration - quite often the narration doesn't match the scene on the screen.
Just baaaad. Save your money.

Well I don't know about Shaun or Richard but I hadn't even thought about buying it...lol So Richard, my assumptions were correct. It is just a superficial attraction. Not that there's anything wrong with it. I was just wondering if by some chance anyone out there thought she was talented. I wonder if maybe she was moulded into that image by the studios because they knew she would sell. I read that she wanted to get into more serious roles. Anyone think that would have been possible? Could her bad acting have just been a part of her dumb-blonde image?

I read somewhere that she wanted to try Shakespeare, but her death got in the way of that.
As for her talent, Don't Bother To Knock is one of my favorite films she starred in. I thought her acting in that was the best I've seen from her, yet.
