Why didn't Kate make more films with Cary Grant? Holiday, Bringing Up Baby, and The Philadelphia Story are all four-star films (haven't seen Sylvia Scarlett) and they are some of my favorite Hepburn movies. I understand Kate chose to make less films in the 50s and 60s due to Spencer's declining health and Grant made his last movie in 1966 but the duo could have squeezed in one more somewhere. In which Hepbun film can you invision Cary Grant replacing the leading man, or vice versa? I just had a brillant idea! Wouldn't it have been remarkable if Kate could have coaxed Grant out of retirement and convinced him to do On Golden Pond with her? It would have been the perfect swan song for the legendary acting team.

That would have been great if Cary Grant hadn't died fifteen years earlier I think Henry Fonda was a great match for her in that movie.

I believe Katharine and Gary's friendship cooled as they got older - he made movies with very young women . I think they made different types of movies and their tastes just didn't gel

Also - Kate retained a friendship with Betsy Drake. And I believe she is quoted somewhere as having said that she did not like the way Grant treated Drake. So in time, I think their friendship cooled.
