I agree... but I actually cannot picture her having done anything else.

Catherine
I don't know whether you have ever seen any interviews with Bob Hepburn , Katharine's brother . Such a sweet man . They interviewed him after Katharine's death and he remembers as a child going to see Katharine's early performances . He said at Bryn Mawr he remembered seeing Kate and she very much at home when she was giving a performance - he said for whatever reason that's what she loved doing and why he didn't know . The other thing he remembered that as a small boy when he got sick Katharine would put on a small play for him and Richard and would act out all of the parts - she did what she loved doing

I agree... but I actually cannot picture her having done anything else. Ditto. A great gal like her should never belong behind a desk. Of course, no offense to those who have jobs like that, it's just... it would've been a waste to see, or imagine.

I think Kate was one of those amazing people who could have been anything that she wanted to be. She was intelligent and had fierce ambition and the "will" to make things happen. She created opportunities for herself on stage and in films, I think she'd have done the same in any profession that she would have chosen.
Having said the above, if she'd not gone into acting, I think Kate would have followed in the footsteps of her parents and been a force for social change. I think she'd have been a political activist as her mother was. Kate had strong personal beliefs as regards family planning, the right of the individual to privacy, etc. and I think she'd have used her gift for speaking in public to further these issues and others in which she believed.

Sherry:
Very good point! If for some reason she hadn't gone into acting, she probably would have been an activist of some sort. She was very much influenced by her parents.
Smith:
I hadn't seen that interview but I have read that she was always putting on plays as a child. It's fascinating when a person just sort of knows what they are going to do with his or her life at a young age. Very lucky, I think. As for me, there are a million things I would like to do. I just need to decide. ;D Sometimes I wish there was only one thing so I could set my mind on that!

We could have been reading about her and her political activism in history books...I'm glad she went into acting though .
