The Glass -I say- Glass Menagerie (FOGHORN LEGHORN!, my hero...)
Who's seen this? And what'd you think?
I thought it was great. A bit gloomy. But great.

Whoops!
You know what is great! I just found on the "little recognition for her television movies" thread, this comment by none other than me...
How diabolically hilario!!! It's almost identical to what I -JUST- said on this (new) thread.

yes kate was great. the mom in MENAGERIE is an amazing role. yes, i wish i'd seen laurette taylor's performance ... to believe the actors who go on and on about it in BROADWAY THE GOLDEN AGE amazing documentary by rick mckay .. you all should see this you really should .. and parts 2 and 3 scheduled to come out at some point www.broadwaythemovie.com/. laurette taylor's performance is one that [1] all of the interviewees kept going back to see over and over and over again ... marian seldes on seeing taylor's performances is riveting .. "i just couldn't believe it" .. they all say a version of this and [2] that this performance changed their perception of what was possible on a stage. i saw sally field (yes, THE SINGING NUN, yes GIDGET, yes STEEL MAGNOLIAS) in this role at the kennedy center a few years ago during a summer of tennessee williams plays and she was riveting in it. the role is amazing .. kate is moving. yes!

One of the first criticisms of the movie is "she's too Yankee to play a Suthunah!" I thought she was marvelous. It's one of my favorite television movies Kate did.

Kate was perfect in The Glahss Menagerie and anybody who thinks/says otherwise is a NINNY TWIT HOOLAROO.
Also, Kath had a blend of Suthun/Yonkee to her dialect. She could turn it on when she wanted to. Her daddy was from Virginny, after all.
