Hi guy's, One Christmas is on Hallmark Sunday Dec. 17 - 3:00 pm and Monday Dec. 18 - 9:00 PM. ;D us.imdb.com/name/nm0000031/nowshowingGrace Quigley will also be aired - but one has to be a pro-member to see when - only got that much that it will be sometime next week. ;D Happy because of One Christmas - 2 years ago I bought the DVD at eBay and as it turned out - only German synchronized - the English as announced wasn't on the DVD - got a fake I guess.

My satellite tv company had been giving me a free preview of the Hallmark channel for weeks. They--conveniently--took it off before One Christmas could come on!

I don't have the Hallmark channel. It's not a big loss really, One Christmas can be purchased everywhere here in the states.

tricked myself - that was US schedule - we don't get it at all Anyway - for those of you who do receive it - please enjoy as I did even though in German (disliking when they give some actor or actress another voice, it is never the same) Can you imagine John Wayne not saying hands up but "Hände hoch" it sounds awfull. We do receive much German TV here in Scandinavia but I prefer our own channels - airing without synchronizing in because I do think that much of the film and the meaning is going lost in translation.

PS: Some time ago I read an article about translation, synchronizing and the subtitles they "put" on the foreign films.
Had to laugh - they had a problem with our Kate - she spoke to fast, they couldn't follow and some of her early films like BUB - people sort of got lost, if they weren't able to understand English but had to follow the text.
They have the same problem, when they synchronize.
Have you had the same experience isis ? Knowing a film in original English and hearing it with another/shorter dialog ?
Much of the charm and meaning is lost.

I'm not a member at IMDb Pro. This site that I visit sometimes doesn't mention it though. www.tv-now.com/stars/kate.htmlCan you imagine what His Girl Friday must be like?

Hi Shaun, after reading the synopsis www.filmsite.org/hisg.html His Girl Friday I don't recall seeing it - and as for the name, in many contries they retitle the films so I had to look that up as well - just look at these examples: Denmark: "Sensationen" (Sensation) France: "La Dame du vendredi" (The Lady of Friday) Germany: "Ein Mädchen für besondere Fälle" (A Girl for special Cases) Italy: "La signora del venderi" (The Lady of Friday) Spain: "Luna Nueva" (New Moon) Sweden: "Det ligger i blodet" (It is in the Blood) As I besides Cable TV also watch TV over satelite via Astra (free channels from various contries in Europe) I often have to surf for titles - it is anoying It is only to get confused if you are looking for a film you want to watch or buy on the net. But reading the synopsis and now knowing it is Howard Hawks - believe they would have troble with the synchronizing and subtitles. Why aren't we allowed to see those great films. Oh man, it is film history.

In His Girl Friday they talk about as fast as Kate did in BUB, only it's EVERY character talking that fast, overlapping each other, and it lasts the entire movie.
