TCM will repeat the documentary Directed by John Ford on Nov. 21 at 10:00 PM EST.
This is a great documentary about Ford's films which includes a segment about MOS including gorgeous closeups of Kate. The MUST HEAR segment is a tape of Kate and Ford talking when Kate visited him as he lay dying. There was a point when they thought the tape recorder was off. But accidently Dan Ford, John's grandson, had left it running. On the tape we hear Kate and Ford talking and we hear Ford tell her that he loves her. It's a lovely moment. Peter Bogdanovich made the documentary and Ford's grandson offered him the tape and they secured the permission of Kate's family to use it in the program.

Watch this documentary not only for the Kate section but also to see the marvelous films that John Ford made and the influence that he had on so many contemporary directors.

It is a great documentary. I'm convinced now that John Ford is part of Hollywood's DNA. It also included great interviews with some of my favorite actors and directors: John Wayne, Henry Fonda, James Stewart, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, and Clint Eastwood. It was sincere and very enlightening and I absolutely recommend it. I certainly have a new interest in the man.

Watch this documentary for every reason Sherry said.
