Has anyone seen this play? I'd be interested to know how Kate Mulgrew's portrayal of Katharine compares to Cate Blanchett's. I know KH's family were not best pleased when it first came out, but I've heard there have been some amendments & fine tuning and it seems to be back in the news again now it's reached Seattle. I have to admit, I think that despite being shorter and less slender than KH, KM bears more of a physical resemblance to her than CB.

I have neither seen it or even heard about it. Seems intersting tho. What's it about? I've never heard about Kate Mulgrew before, but when I watched some pictures of her on imdb, I can agree that she may have more of a physical resemblance to Kate, than Cate Blanchett (Wow, I just noticed it got a lot of 'Kates' here ) Although I stick to my opinion that Cate Blanchett was very resemblanced to Hepburn, even impressing alike (even tho they had done something to change her mouth, but wow, was that good job or what!?). And even if I haven't seen Kate Mulgrew I actually can't imagine that she would succeed to do a better portrayal of Hepburn than Cate did. I thought she did an amazingly portrayal.

My understanding is that the family didn't object to the play per se and they thought that Mulgrew did a great performance . However they were upset at the way Spencer in particular was portrayed . There were a number of really hurtful allegations - someone wrote to the playwright and proved that these events never happened - they never changed that even though the play has been regularly rewritten. I have the play on tape and a lot of it is based on rumour and hearsay. www.totallykate.com/teafive/tea1204.html

Hmm... I forgot about that. I'd really like to see it. I don't think Kate Mulgrew looks like Kate Hepburn but... maybe more than Cate Blanchett. We would be hard-pressed to find a woman who looks like her. You have to get the features just right -- the down-turned lips, the nose with the prominant nostrils, the wide-set eyes and the high cheekbones....

I wonder why Mulgrew decided not to reprise her role for the tour?

I just wonder....?
My pal saw this play and she said that Mulgrew did an OK job. Especially older Katty. However, the fact that the play was written in about three days --and the only reason it was written in the first place was the author's revealation that KM resembles KH-- struck us both off.
Maybe they'll change some stuff up. Blah.

The play was created to show people that KM looks (to some people) like KH?! I haven't seen the play but the more I hear about it, the less I like it. Seems sort of like a mockery?
