I'm not sure how familiar everyone is here with TCM but has anyone ever seen those short tributes to legendary actors, narrated by their colleagues or admirers (also show-biz people)? It begins with a montage of voices, one of which says "damn good actress!" I've seen one about Ingrid Bergman, Bette Davis, and Elizabeth Taylor and was just wondering if there was one for Katharine Hepburn.

There is. I've seen two actually, one narrated by Cher and the other by Anthony Hopkins. I have the Hopkins tribute recorded on tape but I'm without the one with Cher, though I've seen it many times before.

What are those short tributes called and do you think they will show Kate's on August 5th (24 hour Kate Hepburn movie marathon)?

The Cher tribute was played quite a bit around the time of Kate's death. I think the Hopkins one is played less frequently.
They seem to have two kinds of these tributes: Longer ones, like Cher's and shorter ones like the Hopkins. The Cher one really covers her career - albeit in truncated fashion. The Hopkins one is really relegated to a few brief - but great - comments about their working experience.
I would imagine that they WOULD show one or the other or both of these during the August 5 marathon (and, by the way, don't anybody forget the August 27 Spencer Tracy marathon day. Don't know how many here are fans of Tracy - I certainly am. But even if you're not, there are plenty of the great Tracy/Hepburn movies being shown that day.)
I actually have them both, but you might be wise to set your VCRs or DVD recorders to record during the breaks between films. I have all the films they're showing so I won't have to record them. But I'm gonna set my machine to record the breaks throughout the day in case there is any new stuff lurking there.
By the way, the other wonderful TCM tribute was the short In Memoriam trobite the year Kate died. They do it every year to pay tribute to the people who have died that year. Maybe it's my emotional attachment to Kate - I'm sure it is - but I think the one they did the year she died is the most moving thing. For those who've never seen it, the song played in the background is Sarah McLachlan's "I Will Remember You." The clips are interspersed with shots of lit candles and the whole thing is quite beautifully done. Whoever edited it did a brilliant job. The clips used for each actor, actress, writer, etc, are wonderful. Most pass by on screen with just the person's name underneath. But the last person on the screen is Kate. There are a few silent scenes of her - like the one from WOTY where she does that signature little Kate salute - and then the music stops for a moment as we see her in Sam Craig's office saying "I was hoping you'd want to kiss me goodbye." He kisses her as the music comes back up and the shot fades to the one of her as Eleanor, gazing briefly into the hand mirror - you see her reflection in the mirror - before she puts it down to the last lines of the song: "Hold on to the memory."
Makes me cry every time.

I hope they air that In Memoriam tribute, but I doubt it. Say... any way of hosting that video Judy.

I, unfortunately, have not the slightest idea of how to host a video. Do you? JS

If you can rip the video successfully, providing you have the right equipment, then the rest is easy. Go here: www.yousendit.com/Unfortunately, there are limits to something offered for free. You can host the video for 7 days or until it's downloaded 25 times. After that the link dies, but you can re-upload again for the same restrictions but a new link is made. YouSendIt is very popular. My sister uses it and has no problems. You can find out everything there is to know on the website. I hope that works.

Hate to disappoint after I've teased you all with my description, but I don't have the equipment.....Wish I did cause I don't think this particular clip is one they'd be likely to show on TCM on Aug 5 - more likely that they'd show the Cher and Anthony Hopkins ones if anything.
[Webmaster: Do YOU have this clip?]

These segments are called 'Word of Mouth' for anyone who cares. They showed the Anthony Hopkins one yesterday after 'Rooster Cogburn' and I got it on tape ! I don't know about the Cher one though, I didn't get to see the whole marathon. Although I taped 'Christopher Strong,' 'Little Women,' 'Undercurrent,' 'Holiday,' 'Alice Adams,' and 'Dragon Seed' so if they showed it during those, I've got it on tape.

I recorded only the films I haven't seen. Christopher Strong, Undercurrent, The Lion In Winter, and Dragon Seed. I still haven't gotten around to watching them yet.
And, let me say, I really thoroughly enjoyed All About Me. God... what wonderful clips of Hepburn's home made movies---and those little short segments, some with her going to various locations around Connecticut. Awesome to watch.
