Kate was a woman of many talents, and most of them she did extremely well. I mean apart from her acting, painting & sculpting, she was a marvellous all-round sportswoman (golf, tennis, swimming, cycling and acrobatics to name a few), a writer, campaigner and carer.
For the sake of her profession, she also mastered several languages and learnt to play the piano. She could stand on her head into her 80s, was reputedly an expert chocolate brownie maker, and she even enjoyed knitting!
Talk about a good all-rounder. Was there anything she couldn't do?

Speaking of brownies, has anyone ever tried making the Hepburn Brownies? I tried a couple months ago but had to add more chocolate... otherwise, they were good... Catherine

Don't forget her singing. She certainly was no Judy Garland or Ethel Merman, but at least she tried it. Did she dance in Coco? If so, that's one more talent to add to the very long list.

She won a bronze for figure skating at MSG. She never ceases to amaze me. Why do we never hear about the figure skating??

I'm convinced after that bit of figure skating triva--there was nothing that she couldn't do.

Fish? I think she could. Hunt? If I remember correctly, she didn't hunt during the making of The African Queen, but I know if she wanted to she could. I think she was a pretty good shooter. Tap-dance?

Oh yeah don't you remember when she broke Ann Miller's record? Kate did 600 taps in a minute ;D

Katharine really loved animals and although she was not a vegetarian she couldn't stomach the thought that people could kill animals just for the sport .
When they were shooting The African Queen she got angry at the thought that John could kill an elephant but she went along . Along the way John was horrified to see her filming a wild boar - it could have charged and killed them both . Fortunately the animal chose not to attack . Later on John told her about the danger they were both in and she said, but I had a camera not a gun . John smiled and said something about the pure in heart.
Katharine also hated circuses for the same reason

Thank you Smith for that! I was beginning to not like a side of Kate! Can't have that. I didn't think she would be the killing-of-animals type. I saw that picture of her with the men in Africa and the dead (boar?). Don't remember what it was. But anyway, I thought surely she didn't kill that animal... or condone it anyway. I'm not a vegetarian either. I guess I don't have enough willpower. I love steak - medium rare! And chicken and turkey. I've tried being a vegetarian after seeing one of those slaughter-house shows but it only lasted a couple months. Yeah, I'm a total hypocrite.

Speaking of Ann Miller, did you know she was 13-years-old in Stage Door I would never have guessed. She apparently lied about her age to get a speaking part.

She was pretty young but I don't think she was 13 - probably about 16 .
Sorry to be one of those annoying people ...

Ginger Rogers' (is it Rogers's? or Rogers'? I never did get that. Seems like Rogers's would be correct but doesn't look right....) dance partner. The one with the long legs.

I never did see stage door, but isn't Kath the rich girl who wants to find herself and then ends up wanting to be an actress herself? Oh by the way it is Rogers', huge Fred and Ginger fan.
