oh and PS, how much do I love the first oh, say, 10 minutes of this film?? It's FUN! "And then! He swooped up that fumble! And ran 20 yards with it before they called him back! -- Lucy, you're probably wondering what I'm doing...." ::eats poached eggs:: Tetradite.... And I love Santa and Ma Kettle... ME TOO!! I love that ... how she runs after Rummy ... fun ... I kinda have a weak spot for that movie - don't know why ... kinda silly movie... but KAte looks totally beautiful alright in that one - AND ... well .. don't know - love it

Shaun and I are crazy over this film and we just can't place why. Or maybe Shaun can, since he proclaims his love for the thing every .07 seconds haha. Just kidding Shaun; you're adorable! But it's in both of our Top 5 Kate Films. She's just so ravishing throughout the whole movie and the film noir-ish genre was a stretch for her.

Nope I'd say every .07 seconds is accurate. ;D Part of the reason why I love this is because it's so unique. Kate never did anything else like it. I'm obsessed with Stanwyck's Cry Wolf too because it's so similar to Undercurrent. Plus it's freakkin' beautiful! I love the dress fitting scene, the powder room scene, the part at the house where she meets Mitchum (one of my favorite movie houses) and the part where they go out in the woods and see the ocean and Kate sits on that rock and we get a profile shot. Have I ever said how perfect Kate's profile is? Well it is. I love this movie for it's style and atmosphere mostly. The plot is secondary. OH!! And the scene in the barn where the horse goes nuts and Kate's character sees that guy behind all the junk leering at her. Spooky! And the poem.. Stevenson, Robert Louis (1850–1894). A Child’s Garden of Verses and Underwoods. 1913. MY house, I say. But hark to the sunny doves That make my roof the arena of their loves, That gyre about the gable all day long And fill the chimneys with their murmurous song: Our house, they say; and mine, the cat declares And spreads his golden fleece upon the chairs; And mine the dog, and rises stiff with wrath If any alien foot profane the path. So, too, the buck that trimmed my terraces, Our whilom gardener, called the garden his; Who now, deposed, surveys my plain abode And his late kingdom, only from the road. .....And the music she plays one the piano, I hum it at least once a week. "Da da dun, da da da da da dun." I've run myself ragged looking for it on the web. Does anyone know the name of it? And Bess Flowers, who I just learned about recently. She was an extra in movies. She has over 700 credits to her name (go IMDb her) She's in the party scene and has a few lines with Kate. Out of all the 700 movies she was in, this was her favorite role. That's just awesome. Here's an article: www.sensesofcinema.com/contents/02/23/symposium1.html#flowersOf course there's the great chase on horseback where Bob Taylor tries to kill Kate and the foam rock scene is priceless... I'm exhausted from all this Undercurrent love. I t'ank I go home now.

... And that poem is gorgeous. It really is.
AND THAT DRESS IN THE FITTING ROOM. Look at her weeeeeeeeeeeee waist!
Bob Taylor was known as the Man With The Perfect Profile and I think Kath is the female version of that.
