I recorded Without Love nearly a year ago and just got around to watching it today! Can you believe that? I got a big relief from doing so because it ended a pursuit I've been on for quite a long time. Last summer (or possibly the one before that) I saw a commercial for TCM's "summer under the stars" which included a short but touching scene of Kate snuggling up to a window with tears brimming in her eyes. It captivated me from the moment I saw it (at that time I had only seen about three Kate movies) and began a mission to see that scene again. It was so beautiful and I instantly understood the character's feelings. Finally, today I saw that scene again today in Without Love and the same thoughts washed over me. The fact that it took place on train in the middle of the night made it feel so lonely. It just further cemented Kate's acting prowess in my mind.
I find it hard to believe that there are people out there who do not like Kate. Actually, I won't believe it!
Anyway, I just wanted to share my thoughts after watching this gem for the first time. Has anybody else ever had a moment something like this?

I've had similar situations involving some scenes from Kate's films that I hadn't seen before. Whenever there would be a small tribute to Kate on TCM they would show clips from different movies in which I would constantly pick out and name the movies from where they were originated. It's fun. And I've only got a few to go, I think.

There was also a tears in eyes scene at the window in Alice Adams

I was doing a search looking for this forum because I was using a different internet provider so I didn't have it bookmarked and couldn't remember the url... and I came across a forum that was talking about Kate. Most of them were bashing Kate for being with an alcoholic, being "brash and rude", wearing pants, going against the rules, basically speaking her mind. I'm thinking, what is wrong with you people??? These are things (for the most part) you SHOULD be doing. Or at least acknowledging that perhaps that person was an influential part of many women's lives in that era and even now. It's mind-boggling that a woman who was at her peak in the thirties and forties (and maybe sort of plateaued after that...), can still, after all these years, be an icon. Her views then are still modern. I just can't comprehend the fact that so many people idolize Marilyn Monroe when there is Katharine Hepburn. Yeah, Marilyn Monroe was... attractive or beautiful in many people's eyes but what exactly did she have besides a large bosom, bedroom eyes and an annoying whisper of a voice? Just can't see the attraction. Wow, this site is becoming my punching bag lol

If you email me the site I will post a polite reply . Usually these sites have an agenda - for example they are conservative religious sites - I once saw an hilarious site which was run by the "Moonies" which said exactly the same sort of thing
