I'm totally gonna print that one from the first pic, enlarge it a little and try to make it . That is so cute!

How did enlarging it turn out? I tried. It's hard to make it bigger without losing image quality.

Am positive that you will love Kate's portrayal as Jo, when you first have seen it. Got curious and as TCM aired the 1949 version this afternoon - watched it. Must say liked it a little bit - but mostly because of the colours - several times I caught my selves missing Kate - June Allison didn't get the innocence that Kate had as Jo. The final and most important scene with Beth and Jo missed totally. They cut some scenes (like when Laurie and Jo were fencing) and added others or changes the storyline (like Jo in NY). Sometimes I even had the suspicion that they tried to copy expressions to much. Least of all I liked Taylor as Amy - to fake. Aunt March was not Aunt March - not really. Edna Oliver was perfect back then. The only one I really found adoring was Beth played by Margreth O'Brian - that child could act. I want my Jo Star - well for all of you of course ;D - can see some scenes with Kate from her 1933 version here www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vMzg3CbT58The book is available on line here xroads.virginia.edu/~hyper/ALCOTT/lwtext.html

Had almost slipped my mind - does any of you remember that Kate got the part of Aunt March offered in 1994 - and delinced because of her respect for Edna Oliver's work. I think it was grand of her but what a shame she did - would have loved to see Kate as Aunt March.
Wouldn't you?

For some reasons I can't see videos on YouTube(they're really really slow and without audio),I have to see it,but I think that June allyson captures Jo's spirit.I read the book when I was a little girl so I don't remember everything and want to read it again,so I can see what scenes are missing.
I liked the recent version too,and Winona Ryder is a really good actress but June did something more.I cried a lot when she talks with Beth before she dies and I've read that both the two cried all the day when filming. ;D It was such a painful scene! and I absolutely love June's smile and this adds something more!it's so lovely!
I think that when you see a film and then another version, you're a bit influenced by the first one.but I've seen the 1994 version first and now I think the 1949 version is better.but when the plot is so great, how can be a film bad? ;D
I also liked the other characters,Samantha Morris plays a hateful Amy when Elizabeth Taylor' Amy is way better.but I agree with you,Margaret O' Brien was really great.I know that they made Beth younger because they wanted O' Brien to play her.
but yes,I have to see Kate's version.

I have seen Kates version and the one with Winona Ryder .... unfortunately not the one with June Allyson - well one day - but I have to say - Winona Ryders version was really not the best - I personally think she is a very "limited" actress I liked Susan Sarandon as the mother cause I guess I like her in anything she does - but my favorite is Kates version of course - cause she is so much like the character I should think Have to see the June Allison version ... definitely ... I didn't even know there was one

Sorry but have to disagree with you - I think that Taylor's Amy was far from natural. Samantha Mathies (not Morris) is the other actress who played the older Amy in the 94 version - her protrayal was almost too nice. I liked Joan Bennet better - more spoiled and her portrayal of Amy is far better But since you haven't seen the version yet..... wait - am positive that you will agree with me. I'm sorry I've read somewhere the name "Morris"...
I think I'll like Kate as Jo,because the character was like her and because...well...is Kate!! ;D
I also liked Susan Sarandon as Marmee...she's the other that I like in anything she does, just like Kate.
