As I've already said in another post today, I watched Alice Adams and Holiday today for the first time. Both were awesome. I can't believe it took me this long to see them.

Christopher Strong
Good. Mediocre at best. It's the first film I've seen Hepburn die in, which is sad. Not much to say really, she looked great.
EDIT: Ha. I remember now. She also died in Keeper Of The Flame.
Undercurrent
Really good, much better than the above. It offered a different role I wasn't too familiar in seeing someone like Katharine Hepburn play in. Towards the end when she was on the horse and Robert Taylor's character tries to shove her off the cliff, she's let's out these soft squeals that just made me chuckle. Good movie, with good suspenseful moments. Vincente Minnelli made them very effective.
The Lion In Winter
Amazing. Magnificent. I was, at times, laughing more than anything else. It was so witty in a way I wasn't expecting. I really enjoyed it, even when at first I thought I wasn't going to understand a word of it. Hepburn deserved that Oscar.
Dragon Seed
One of my favorite films made by Hepburn, but it does have a flaw. It's not her appearance that bothered me, but her attempt to sound like a Japanese woman... she didn't really. At times it showed, but I sensed her American accent more times than I should. In one particular scene, when she and her husband are in her room and she blows out a candle, everything is dimmed except a silhouette of both her and her husband. Now, if anyone were to tune into this movie at exactly this point in the film, the viewer will have no idea that Hepburn's character Jade is Japanese. She sounded even like an American during that scene and it bothered me. Although, I may be wrong. For all I know, some Japanese women could sound more like Americans. It's still a great movie, in my opinion. Decent story too.

Woman of the Year-This is only the second or third time I've watched this one and I loved it just as much the second (or third?) time around. Kate never looked more beautiful! By the way, I never noticed that the woman who plays Ellen is the same woman who played Kate's sister in Quality Street. It just goes to show you, never watch a movie just once-you learn something new each time you see it!
Pat and Mike-Great movie. Probably in my top three of favorite Tracy-Hepburn movies.

Christopher Strong-This was an okay movie. Not as bad as I thought it would be. I noticed the misspelling of Tokyo on a newspaper...they spelled it "Tokio." That scene where the light on the nightstand is turned on and all you see is Kate's hand seemed pretty provocative for the time, you knew what had just happened.

I think this was actually already discussed. I'm pretty sure it was just something Scorsese overlooked. The Aviator wasn't exactly a documentary. ;D

Olly, Olly, Oxen Free (1978) Katharine Hepburn stars in this nice movie about two neighborhood boys who decide to inflat a big old hot air balloon. It's a funny movie, and me being a HUGE fan of her's, it was like watching a treasure.
Laura Lansing Slept Here (1988) (TV) Another Katharine Hepburn film, a TV movie to be exact, and I loved it. This was made at a time during Hepburn's old age, but how she approached this part is just amazing. It was like the role was written specifically for her. If she wasn't in this picture, I would've been less interested. It only goes to show, really, the kind of screen power she has.

Richard: How did you find Laura Lansing Slept Here?
I posted Stage Door in the other movie thread... but last night I watched:
Woman of the Year ! - One of my top 3 favorites. One of my favorite scenes is at the end when she's trying to be a housewife. ;D How anyone could possibly think that was the right way to make coffee is beyond me... and I don't know what separating eggs means (what does that mean? To just crack them?) but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't try to slide them from one plate to another... and then strain them. lol I crack up everytime.

I think it means to separate the whites from the yolk.

Woman of the Year-This is the second time I've seen this one in the last 13 days. I watched it yesterday during the Spencer Tracy marathon. I seem to enjoy a movie more when it is on tv than when I'm watching it on dvd. Is this the same for anyone?

Actually, I enjoy the experience of watching anything on DVD rather than TV. But in some cases I have no choice.

I, too, would rather watch a movie on DVD although sometimes I like the spontanaeity of watching a movie on TV (unless there are commercials which I can't stand and pretty much never watch TV for (partially) this reason). I also watched Woman of the Year twice within... about 15 hours I believe. I watched it at home and then, after scheming to convert my friend to Kate, I made him watch it(well, I didn't MAKE him, he was all for it...). I actually showed him The Philadelphia Story before that one (chronological order) the night before. You notice the strangest things when watching a movie with another person who likes to comment on every little thing (which I usually find annoying except in this case, as I have seen the movie a million times, I didn't care). Let me just say there was a lot of rewinding and pausing, slow-motion and laughing. I don't think I can even remember what we were laughing at...

I think that's what I like about watching movies on tv...the spontanaeity of it. I always imagine that the network is catering to my interests... ;D

Bringing Up Baby & Adam's Rib - (Still persuading my friend ;D) BUB, I have decided, is officially my favorite KH movie. I noticed some things in it last night that I hadn't noticed before: The scene when Kate and Cary are in her living room with the leopard... and he's been trying to get his leg out of the leopard's claws... there's a shot where you can see the leopard is a puppet. It's really eery looking, too... I guess I never looked at the leopard at that moment during the million times I've seen it! And in that same scene, you can see that there is glass separating Kate from the leopard because there is a reflection in between the two.
