Where is everybody!? The ten most recent posts are from the same three members. This forum needs some new blood and fast or else it's going to be R.I.P. for the KatetheGreat.net forum!

I'm still here, just nothing really worth replying to. But I want 'The African Queen' on DVD soooo bad, I was incredibly disappointed when I found out it wasn't. And I refuse to read her book on 'The African Queen' without seeing the movie first.

Actually I recommend reading the book first. It will give you a behind the scenes look at what actually went on and some of the stories Kate tells are very, very funny. Fascinating!

Richard - The African Queen came out on DVD a couple of years ago. Guess it's not reached USA yet though. I have an Australian one (maybe Smith does too?) which works in region 4 or with multiregional players.

According to amazon.com, it hasn't been released yet. And amazon is a pretty reliable source for all things entertainment. Although, I could buy the import from Germany but I don't have a multiregional DVD player. I guess I'll have to wait it out.
A movie like 'The African Queen' has to make it's release here very soon.

Richard -- I agree, you should read The Making of the African Queen first. Actually it doesn't matter if you read it before or after... I don't think it gives anything away in the movie.

Okay. You've all convinced me. I'll buy the book after the next book I've recently purchased. I need a break from Hepburn, so now I've switched gears over to Garland, titled - Judy.

Just thought I'd mention I've finished reading "The Making of The African Queen". It's great. A little short, but great nonetheless. You're right Shaun, she does have many fascinating stories.

What part did you find the funniest or most enjoyable? Personally, when she told of releiving herself in a box with a hole in it (unkown to her of course) had me in stitches! "I purposely wet the bed!" Kate made me laugh out loud, something that I don't usually do while reading a book.

Haha. Actually, relieving herself in that box with a hole in it was probably the most funniest. But if I had to choose another one, I'd have to say that small bit with Betty and Katharine trying to find a spot to use the bathroom, and they had to shoo off the following natives. That was a small chuckle on my part. The book is full of great bits.

I can't wait any longer. I've already bought The African Queen on VHS from ebay. I should be receiving it shortly.
