There was a autographed Kate painting on the Roadshow the other night. It was inscribed by Kate to one of her workers and his wife. It looked to be of Fenwick from her boat they valued it for $15-20,000. In 2009, the show did three installments in West Hartford and a woman brought a Kate painting to be appraised. Unless this was a NEW show, I'm guessing it was a repeat of the West Hartford show, where the painting was appraised for 15-20 thousand. The painting is of the Am. Festival Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford, done by KH when she was appearing there in 1960. The woman, whom Kate called "Mrs. Joe," was married to a man who worked at the theatre. The story she told the appraiser was that Kate invited her to the cottage where she stayed while appearing there - the old bait shack - and showed her some of her paintings and according to the story asked for the woman's opinion. When the season there ended, Kate gave it to her inscribed: "To Mrs. Joe With Affectionate Memories." Stratford 1960 I think with that provenance and signature they undervalued it.
