Add me to the list of people who come up with ideas for posts while lying in bed...only I got the idea for this one while in the shower. Does that count?
Has anyone done anything to live a life more similar to Kate's, such as taking cold showers or going to bed/getting up early? Or maybe by doing more serious things like deciding not to have children or get married.

Amber your expectations can never be to high. "Don't go for second best baby put your love to the test" ;D Sorry. Anyway, I think that's what drew me to Kate. A lot her views are similar to mine. In the summer, yeah, I take like 2 or 3 showers a day -- but not cold. I do the cold thing at the end. I've always done that (in the summer). It's a nice finish to a hot shower. And it's good for the hair lol As for getting married, I've had that view for a while now. As well as the question of having kids. Views on abortion are the same... A couple of things that are opposite of Kate: Getting up early (NO way, not unless it's really important) and being punctual. OMG I am always late. Unless it's really important... like, an interview or something. I don't use a lot of Kath phrases... unless I see something that reminds me of a Kate movie and I quote her -- but it's not like I use them in my everyday conversation. I've attempted to play golf and tennis -- more enthusiastic about it after becoming a Kate fan ;D I'm quite good at driving now! And putting. Tennis -- eh.

Haha! I couldn't help laughing when I saw this,I take lots of showers, cold? depends on the weather, I haven't gotten to the all cold water come rain or shine yet, but I discovered that the cold water is not as harsh on my skin as hot water, sounds weird but my skin is super fair and sensitive. I definately have taken on my favorite aspects of her personality, sometimes I say things like her but only if I'm feeling silly or if I'm around other Kath fans. I'm not the all around athletic girl like her, but I still think golf and tennis look like loads of fun and I plan to take those up in the near future. I love knitting and crocheting and I was so excited when I found out she did it too. I don't stay up late very much and no matter what, I always wake early the next morning, I don't think I've slept over 7 a day in my life. As for having kids? I'm the youngest of a big family so naturally after being around neices and nephews I want a small family, don't get me wrong I love kids, I just know that they'll drive me batty if I have too many. I think that Kath is a great role model for anybody to have, it's worked out for me for the past few years. Hey I thought I'd share something that I think is kinda cool, Kath and my mom have the same birthday, does anyone else? And read my signature that's another in common thing that I do.

I take parts of Kate's life that I feel will most inspire me and emulate them. I do take 3 showers a day and have incorporated the cold after the hot as Catherine suggests and it does feel better particularly early in the morning when I am trying to get my motor a-goin. I have a set of golf clubs that my hubby bought last summer and he has a set himself and has gone driving from time to time I would eventually love to learn if nowhere eles than to go to a range from time to time for excercise. Being left handed I have been told that is a challenge in and of itself. I am married so there goes that philosophy of Kate's lol I can't have children so that part of the equation was never really a consideration for me personally though I do not begrudge a woman her own choice to get married or stay single or be a single mother if the case may be. I have no problem whatever supporting abortion I do not think the government has any right to tell a woman what to do with her own body or her life. Getting up early is something that is not easy for me but I do find that i feel better when I do and make every effort to hit bed by at least 10. and I agree with kathfan Kate is a great role model for anybody to have male or female you could certainly do a LOT worse in my opinion

Since the day Kate, um, left this world, I've worn my hair up at the front Tracey Lord style, smoked (tsk tsk) but quit! And..... wore cool slacks. But of course, before that happened I wrote her and got a letter back from her secretary on the cool printed paper. All this while still in drama school.
Now that I'm in the real world my Kathdom has continued. Went to Turtle Bay and decided I wanted to live there like Kate.
The children topic- was glad someone felt the same way as I did and had the same explanations. Now I know I'm not being hard.
Although like Kate and Kathy Houghton's relationship, I adore my little relative and she's already got a little bit of Hepburn in here with her tallness and love of gardening and stubborness!
As for cold showers- well sometimes I'll turn it cold very quickly then jump out! Although, when I got back from NYC on her birthday last week someone changed the settings on the shower and I had to have it cold!
And I think most of all I'd like to keep being independent and a non conformist! Especially on my own terms!

wow ! I am jealous Lolita88 I wrote to Kate after scouring a few old library books bios in who's who if I remember correctly it was her New York address and it was sent back return to sender and wasnt ever opened. I had to laugh at that since Kate was well known at least when she was younger for being a stickler for privacy not that anything is wrong with that at all but the irony is she liked to show off or "be the bride or the corpse " as her dad liked to say but didnt want to acknowledge her fans. But on the other hand altogether she had independence and wealth so as always the extremes live on ! Being a nonconformist is a lot easier now than it was in Kate's day and we have her to thank for it of course and I do in my own way every day !

It was because of KH that I got into classic film...and probably why I'm majoring in cinema studies. I never wear a skirt, but that predates my Kate fandom. I also dyed my hair red because of her!
I also plan to name my first daughter Katharine...and if my potential spouse disagrees, the marriage is off...(kind of kidding)
And some of her advice I follow too. Like the one about how they can throw a letter out, but they can't throw you out... (I think that was Dr Hep's originally.)

I always take cold showers in the summer! Maybe 2 in normal days...iduring that period I have no contact with hot water! Otherwise when it's cold outside I take only hot showers and maybe cold at the end for a minute or less. I don't think I'm getting married, if I'm with someone a marriage doesn't add anything to love. I don't even think I'd want any children, but this is a more important point, I don't know what the future will bring to me, maybe I'll have one, but sure not more! Eveything that is about women's situation and the way they are still treated nowadays...well I fight for this! When we discuss about it, people think I'm like a suffraggette! Being punctual...ahahah, I'd want to, but it's not for me! Unless it's really important, I just can't do it! I try to have a healtier lifestyle most of the time, but not exaggerating... Anyway, it's not always easy. It's what comes to my mind now.
