So, um, do I get booted out if I say that I'm old enough to have seen Mary Martin on Broadway in the original production of The Sound of Music?....And on the car ride home, I distinctly remember somebody saying that they thought they were going to make a movie???!!! "booted"? um, of course not judy. yikes. very cool that you saw mary martin in the original. i've seen a few stage productions of SOUND OF MUSIC .. i find some of the differences .. stage-screen ... interesting. more nuances to Max the entrepreneurial 'agent' friend on stage, for example. re: the stage version of MILLIE .. well, i guess that's personal taste whether it worked. for me, not so much. though they did have the good sense to include the great ballad "Jimmy" from the movie in the stage version. and of course i saw a touring company (I was then in DC) and not Sutton ... so all of that might have had an effect on my reactions. Most important: a friend (you said) who was involved in the stage MILLIE? well, friendships trump (or have huge pull) ... cool that your pal won a tony! Yeah....the differences. The songs they cut - two of my favorite melodies were cut from stage to screen of MUSIC are ones that gave Max more stage time - and those they add, like "I Have Confidence" - that were not in the stage incarnation..... I was about 7 or 8 when I saw it - 8, I think - and can remember parts of it so vividly. Was my first B'way show....As for MILLIE, yeah, somebody I worked with as a freelancer for a few years went on to fame and fortune wrote the lyricist and co-wrote teh book. But I agree, it lacked something, although I found it entertaining, not just Sutton, but Gavin Creel and Harriet Harris. Don't know if they toured.

Bette and Ginger Is it just me or do 30s and 40s stars look strange in 60s hair styles? Maybe it's just that the beehive look was so god awful.

Everytime I look at those two I feel like watching an episode of "I Love Lucy". I still haven't bought the complete series I promised myself I would months ago. Dang it!

If Mike is your buddy, you should let him know that his "unidentified kate movie" still, nice quality image (now my desktop for a while:) ) .. is of course from Adam's Rib. .. the famous (to us all) interview scene between Kate and Judy and Kate's assistant .. "imagine that" ...

Oh I did mail him some time ago telling him that it was from Adam's Rib. Did also tell him that the thing about Meryl Streep probably is not true as Kate never said it her self but was said by Berg in Kate Remembered (you know the story about hearing the wheels turning) and that I did not think that she hated Woody Allen but that she disliked his films. Am guessing that he hasn't had the time to change the info - as he has been very busy getting the site up. And that much contact we aren't having. Each our interestes So the contact we have had was like - how do you do this or that ... - you do it like this. A great teacher by the way

as long as the message has reached the web master .. all is well in the garden. (a BEING THERE reference if that seemed obscure . .. well, its obscure anyway .. never mind ..) i am quite impressed by the quality of many of the images mike has posted on the site, for kate as well as his other favorite women of the silver screen.. i have to admit i haven't checked out the gentlemen that he has there yet ..

I've been visiting that website now for weeks. It's the most comprehensive I've come across for Norma Shearer, and it's updated constantly. And I love the whole encyclopedia part of the site -- obviously a takeoff of that Joan Crawford website The Best of Everything.

And to be honest - have learned a great deal from his site - not only html stuff And yes it is - the two site owners are friends Mike mailed me the other day. He has reworked Kate's site entirely and as he says on the update site - he must have had a bad day when he made Kate's site. Shauns earlier Cleopatra signature photo is now Kate's main photo ;D
