A fantastic read . What are people's favourite sections and what were Katharine's motivations in writing it?
I love the section on the theatre in the 1920's . Katharine makes that period so alive and you can imagine her being an up and coming actress waiting for the phone to ring

Oh yes the part about her career in the theatre in the 1920s was probably one of the best parts. I also love the part about her childhood--when other authors write about young Kate, I find it a bit boring--which is why I'm weighing the option of reading 'Young Kate'--but when she tells about it its so interesting and intertaining. I got a laugh from the part where Kate is with friends digging up roots; "f*uck the roots"..ha ha that was so unexpected!

If you have any bookstores in your town that sell used books, you might actually be able to find the hardcover. I've seen several...

I'm so happy I'm gonna have "Me" in two months. Ok, it paperback and it wasn't cheap. It's in English so it'll take me some time to understand everything. But it will be mine "Me"! And you have no idea how hard it's to get something about Kate in Poland (I mean, in Polish shops or Polish Internet shops, because I have no money and courage to buy things in different parts of the world). I can buy only a few DVD movies and Berg's book in the ordinary Polish shops. It isn't much, is it? It isn't easy to live in the country when Hepburn means (if it means anything at all) Audrey. But I love my country after all, of course. Did I mention I'm happy?

I'm half Polish (my father was Polish)...so it makes sense that we both love Desk Set....I know, that doesn't make any sense at all but I like the coincidence.

but I like the coincidence. I like it too. Now it really makes sense, I think And Poland is a great place. I wouldn't live anywhere else. You just have to get used to the reaction "Huh?" when you says who your beloved actress is

I find it amazing that you have discovered and fell in love with Kate in a country where it's next to impossible to find much about her. How DID you find Kate, Kama?

I find it amazing that you have discovered and fell in love with Kate in a country where it's next to impossible to find much about her. How DID you find Kate, Kama? I gave written about it in another topic. I'm not telling it to make you read it there. I'll just copy it if you don't mind. It'll takes ages to write it again with my language I'm quite sure it was TPS on TCM 7-8 years ago. My parents were out, visiting their friends and I was waiting at home in late evening. I knew nothing about old movies then.... It's strange, but I don't remember me watching a very first scene (I love this Tracy - Dexter moment now). I remember Kate laying on the couch in such a nonchalant air with such a class. And I remember me thinking: "She wears pants? What year was it making in?!". The crazy searching for TV program. "1940? Are you kidding me? She, whoever she is, doesn't look 1940-ish!" (yeah, talking to the paper isn't very good sign, is it?). I must say Kate had my from "hello" (to be honest, she had me from "How do you spell omelet?" translated into Polish sentence "Jak sie pisze omlet?"). I was watching a few minutes more but my parents came back then and told to me to go to sleep - it was after midnight. My VCR was down so I spend next weeks hunting on TPS on TCM. And I hunted AR instead of it! I loved it too. These two movies are still in my top three Kate movies (with TLIW ). End of the copying What's more? How I said, it's not easy to buy something about Kate here but we have TCM It was the only way I get to know Kate at the beginning of my adventure with her. Now I watched much more movies. You know, there are different "ways" to it. If you don't know, what to do about your obsession, you often do something not very saint (I hope you know what I mean).

I didn't have time to write much in the morning (my morning, your night) but I want to add something. To be fair for Polish television. I saw a few Kate movies on others channels, not TCM (where I saw TPS, AR, Pat and Mike, WOTY and All About Me). GWCTD, AQ, DS, The Rainmaker, LDJIN, Little Women, OGP, One Christmas, The Glass Menagerie, Love Affair and The Man Upstairs. I saw them all for the first time in Polish TV. But... they were often at 1 a.m. And it took 8 years to see them. I heard Polish TV has more of them. Some were on the channels I don't have. Some were broadcasted many years ago (my parents told me that). So I cannot complain about TV much, just a little. I can complain that you can have one chance to see a movie and if you don't VCR it, you're depressed years later (it's the story of me and The Rainmaker). And I can complain I can but only a few movies on DVD with Polish subtitles (no more than 10).
