What a joy! ;D A Woman Rebels Sylvia Scarlett Quality Street Mary of Scotland A little remark - one could clearly see which sequence Kate had made (the tower scene) in Mary of Scotland - many of the scenes where very manly do one say so ?? - the scene was so romantic and warm - even felt the scene and her appearance was quite different from the rest of the film. Didi any of you think the same - or am I being crazy imagining?

No. You ain't crazy.....I don't know if Kate's direction accounts for this terrific scene or just the fact that it's a scene so different from the rest of the movie to begin with. It is, however, one of the saving graces of the movie. Beautifully played.

OLLY OLLY OXEN FREE!!!
It was...different...to say the least. I liked it though. And whilst some would say its an odd choice for Kate period, I think that its quite understandable really. Especially given that she herself was quite odd.
Overall: Odd but intriguing movie. Loved it.

The Rainmaker
Of all of Kate's movies I've seen I'd have to say this is the one I like least. And I've seen The Iron Petticoat. So yeah. I didnt like The Rainmaker.
I loved Kate in it. But I thought the movie rather mediocre (although maybe it was my mood when I watched it..I watched it in the morning one day, and I never get into a movie in the morning...so i shouldnt have watched it then) AND I HATED Burt Lancaster. He pissed me off something shocking. I wanted to sock him one in the kisser. He was so annoying.
Its a shame. Coz I still love Kate, and I wanted to like this movie, but it was just unsavable.
But I've never been one for first impressions. Give me a chance to watch it again, and I'll tell you what I think of it then.

Agree with you Shane, Lancaster was anoying in The Rainmaker - loved him though in The Crimson Pirat as Capt. Vallo and his friend Ojo or From here to Eternatiy, The Judgement at Nuremberg with ST or in A Child is Waiting with Judy Garland - some classic's especially The Crimsom Pirat - as a child - hmm - used to play pirats after watching it - like a little tarzan ;D Shane wrote: Didn't like The Iron Petticoat - but mainly because of Bob Hope - the one I like least - adored Kate in it though Give it a shot one more time Shane

I didn't like very much too The Rainmaker, I thought the scenario wasn't very good and the movie looks blocked, fortunately Kate saved all this.

I agree with everything ya'll have already said about Mr. Burt Lancaster. He's a terrific actor, however, his gritting teeth give me the feeling that he's going to jump out of the screen and bite my face. And maybe Kate was wrong fot the part. Yah, she did the spinster thing so well, but eh.....there was some component of Lizzie that didn't suit Kate at all. Even after she became "pretty."
The publicity photos for TR?
;lkdshfkjsafhjasdjfsjjkfjkdf HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!! *sizzles* She's teh sex. She so is!!!

I'm gonna have to disagree here and say "The Rainmaker" is a pretty good movie. I don't recall Burt Lancaster being annoying, though, but he was a little preachy, unless you consider that annoying. I thought it was very well written. I liked the story. It was funny. And I loved the photography, too. It's certainly not one of the best films Kate made in the 1950s, but she was good in it.

Christopher Strong, Spitfire and Break of Hearts, loved the last one - and what a lot of kissing ;D - unusual for Kate films - believe it stands very much alone - hmmm meaning from all her films - the kissing
