I've never seen this....
I've acutally been against seeing it until watching a few clips of it tonight on the Golden Globes. For those who have seen it was it a realistic look into Hepburn's life with Howard? Was Cate good as Kate? Would you recommend it?

I think it's a hard ask of any actor to play a great actor. I think Cate did a fantastic job but I just didn't like the film, however I am glad that I watched it. Leonardo was fantastic (I usually cannot stand him) I think you have to be interested in Howard to like it. It's not something I could watch again so I'm glad I didn't purchase it, but it's worth renting at the video store. q
I might appreciate it when I am older, who knows. My taste in movies changes as I get older. Perhaps I'll like it in ten years. It had cool old school catchy tunes from memory. For now, it was just a bit boring and dramatic for me. I think it was a long movie from memory. Either that or it dragged a bit.
I think there are a few fans of the work on this forum, so it'll be interesting to be reminded of what everyone else thought of the movie.
I watched it on YouTube. Big mistake. A) They are missing a whole section (the section where Spencer is mentioned, so a crutial section for Kate fans). B) You do not get the full visual effects of the movie - which is beautifully photographed.

It's lovely visually. The acting from DiCaprio is good. It's overlong.
Cate Blanchett, I feel, could be a good Kate. We all know she's a terrific actress, and there are some scenes in Benjamin Button where she's a dead ringer. And she wasn't exactly bad in this. But in this film, there's so much inaccuracy in the screenplay that she really doesn't get to fulfill the role.
As for the inaccuracies- I can live with it- it's not a movie about KH, and it's not supposed to be a documentary. They portrayed the Hepburns rather unfairly, and the thing with the pictures is just weird- but that's Hollywood.
I would suggest, gottamatch, seeing it on DVD, as the visuals are the movie's strength. (I saw it twice in theatres, which was very helpful.)
This was also the movie that led me to become a fan- I had seen two or three KH movies, but doubted some of the ideas presented (I thought they had made up Luddy!), so sought out a Hepburn bio, and well here I am.

Oh that's a nice story! You can call me Jess, pally (I always sign off so you don't have to remember lol) Yeah, like I said the visuals were stunning, beautifully photographed. That's the only thing I felt I was missing from not having seen it on a DVD. I'm not sure I could sit through it agian. I might buy it if I ever saw it reeeally cheap in the bargain bin. They all end up there in years to come, so I'm sure I'll get it eventually thinking to myself 'have I seen this?' (as I often do in DVD stores lol) I forgot about the whole 'Hepburns' thing! But that is a nice story of you becoming a fan! You said it well when you said it is not a documentary. I think some people go into these films (De Lovely about Cole Porter is another that comes to mind) thinking they are an acturate depiction or documentary about their lives where in reality, they are given alot of artistic license invoved with making these films. Some good insight there! Jess

Allthought, Miss Blanchet doesn´t look like Miss Hepburn (physicaly). Cate copies Kate very well. Her way to speak, walk, laught, sit... I belive that you can watch this movie for curiosity! Comparison are very bad!

I've never seen The Aviator, mostly because I don't really like biographical movies, but I've seen a few parts on YouTube and I think Cate Blanchett does a pretty good job. But the movie itself seems to be missing a few important... things? I don't know.

I think Cate did a pretty good job, although I didn't really like the way Kate was portrayed. I think Scorcese watched Bringing up baby a lot! ;D But of course it's difficult to know what a person was really like in their private life. And it's film of course, so it has to be entertaining... Here are a few pictures I did for the Cate Blanchett forums. They don't really look alike, although I do think Cate managed to bring something special to some scenes.
