I tried to dissect that as well. Perhaps that is true... ;D

I had a dream where I was watching Holiday only it was in color...actually it wasn't Holiday, I don't really know what it was. Holiday was supposed to come on soon and I was eagerly awaiting it...I was so eager I dreamed about it!

Amber I feel the same as you. People my age piss me off just because they don't like the same things as I do. I do have one friend who likes old movies but I haven't had a conversation with her in a while...

Poor Howard. Nobody's talking about him.
I don't have dreams about Katharine, just fantasies. One fantasy involves the time machine, of course, but I wouldn't travel back in time to see her movies in the theater. I've thought about this all the way through. I would go back to her college years at Bryn Mawr (particularly around, maybe, her junior or senior year) and just watch her. Find her, watch her, then maybe talk to her, if I had the chance.
(Approaches an office attendant) "Excuse me" Richard says. "Can you be so kind to tell me if you have a Miss Katharine Hepburn enrolled at this college"
"I'll check" she responds, opening a gigantic book of student names.
"Why... yes we do. Are you a relative?
"Yes, but a distant one. I've come to surprise her. Can I have the room number?
"Room 201"
"Thank you" Richard exclaims.

Does anyone know where the name Bryn Mawr comes from? It's Welsh, which means 'big hill', and there's a place called Brynmawr about 10 minutes from where I live. I was just wondering how the school got it's name.

Internet abbreviations are great because they're a way to express yourself! It's hard to convey certain things without an lol or a smilie.
Richard: I love that ! I totally have the same thing planned out in my mind. Going to see her in 'Woman in the Moon', punching the girl who said "self-conscious beauty" in the face, joining her in her house-breaking ventures. She would have been an awesome friend. She reminds me of my friend from high school. We were totally nuts.

At least she said beauty along with self-conscious. But yes, she does deserve a little rearranging of her landscape.

"Art my eye" or anything "my eye". I actually heard someone say this the other day. I couldn't help but think they stole it from Kate. I actually DO quote lines from movies but no one ever gets it. Unless they're like 70. This is why I love old people Oh yeah, I was discussing The Philadelphia Story a while back with a coworker... after about three minutes of talking about it, she said "Didn't they remake that with Tom Hanks?" I totally gave up on her after that. Maybe that doesn't fit in the obsessed category but when you're discussing Katharine Hepburn with anyone you think you're being obsessive and don't know when to stop. Funny story, that very thing happened to me, I was so annoyed with the person I was talking to that I just sighed and walked off. And I can't stand it when people say they can't stand old movies because they're in black and white! What can be going through their minds? I'll never know. I don't know if I'm obsessed with Kath, if quoting her sometimes and special ordering her movies because the stores don't have them makes me obsessed then I'm proud of it.

I've been having a long standing argument with one of my brothers over old movies for weeks now. He insists anything in black and white is a bore, save old television shows and Three Stooges shorts, and that the only movies worth watching are those that are predominantly CGI. I was watching The Lion in Winter a while back and he said "Man that Lion in Winter movie looks boring!" Amazingly, he did watch a good bit of Bringing Up Baby with me ONCE; I knew he was entertained, but he didn't admit it. The only hint of admission of enjoyment was when he said "they (Kate and Cary) would have made a great Lois and Clark had they made a Superman movie back then," which is a huge compliment coming from a Superman geek like him. Whenever he gripes that he's watched all of his DVDs a thousand times, I remind him that I got a Katharine Hepburn collection that he could borrow movies from. I think he's getting sick of it but I don't give a damn. I have yet to be successful in converting someone over to Katharine Hepburn movies. Some people just don't get it...

Well, for my two cents I think our generation has been brainwashed. Nobody gives a damn about senior citizens or anything that goes along with them. That includes film, culture, history, etc. The media doesn't help either. I KNOW there's talent out there, we just aren't seeing it. Sure, we have a few good actors Nicole Kidman, Tom Hanks, Jack Nicholson (wait, they aren't even our generation except for maybe Nicole.. omg I'm such an old lady). They just aren't consistent. Let's make a buck even if it means corrupting the values and knowledge of the youth! <-- society today's motto. I've expressed my feelings about mod H-Wood before, so I'm sure you know where I'm coming from. Theatre is the exception. Oh, I dislike some people so much for their ignorance and/or arrogance about such things.
And you want to know something else that burns my goat *cough*Pinkie*cough*?? Those dumb sorority gals clutching Breakfast at Tiffany's handbags when they wouldn't know the difference between either Hepburn, let alone name three of Aud's movies. Posers! Or the gals that swoon over James Dean and proclaim him the Best Actor Ever. Uhh, people he was in THREE films. C'mon. He was great, but hardly a resume you can look and marvel at. Then look at our Kath's. Greatest actress EVER dummies!!! <-- not you guys, those dumb gals I go to school with. ;D

Does anyone know where the name Bryn Mawr comes from? It's Welsh, which means 'big hill', and there's a place called Brynmawr about 10 minutes from where I live. I was just wondering how the school got it's name. Love Gem You asked this question awhile back but in case you are still wondering. Bryn Mawr College is in the town of Bryn Mawr, PA which is 9 miles west of Philadelphia. English and Welsh people settled the area and Welsh names are common. Another town in the area is Bryn Athan there are others either taken directly from Welsh or corrupted in the American spelling -- Penllyn, Boothwyn, etc. My husband comes from a town in PA named Pen Argyl which was settled by Welsh slate miners. The founders of Bryn Mawr were Quakers and the original intention was for it to be a Quaker college but early on the focus shifted although the Quaker ideal of freedom of conscience remained. Hope this sheds a bit of light.

I hear you. And the same goes for the bimbos who "adore" Marilyn Monroe. They're probably not even aware she was an actress.
