Just to add my three words: The line between fiction and non-fiction is so thin - it is to easy to cross the line. There is nothing wrong with having fantasies nor writing them down. But the public thing is to much. And even if the thread would be made private/non-public - the board is in my opinion to large. This board has a good name and is often refereed to when speaking about Kate. My concern is - with fan fiction - the danger of not being so is there. The good reputation would be - to use a Kate film phrase - "down the drain". Any thoughts on that?! I agree, dreamer. Fanfiction on this board might be a little too much....there is a site called fanfiction.org that has some great stuff there if you wanted to go there. But here might be a bit too much, when we are talking about the "real" Kate and not fantasies.

There has been so much written about Kate that is outlandish and often crosses the line of good taste. That sounds awfully constipated of me, I know. But even though I know there is nothin' but love for her here, there are so many places out there that objectify her and presumptuously delve into areas that are disrespectful. I think here is one place where she could be protected against that.

Hi -- I agree -- fanfic can go way over the line and there already is enough "fiction" in print about Kate. I wouldn't want our board adding to it. If people want to exchange ff privately, well, that's their choice but I don't think mingling fact and fiction on here is a good thing. Sherry

Those are all very valid points. I guess there are plenty of other places for fanfic. When I think fanfic I mostly think about them in relation to movies or books, like an extension to something thats already written and is fiction. Like say, a continuation of TPS. But you guys are right that fics about Kate's personal life might just be a little too much since this board is, as Dayna already said, about the real Kate. But because I do occasionally enjoy reading well written fics, I wonder if maybe instead of having the them directly posted on this board, we could have a place for links to another site like fanfiction.org for those that do enjoy reading them...

Alicia - it is each their own if they post a link to another site. Only PLEASE do remember - we are talking about a being here - a woman whom we all love and admire - not a fantasy She deserves our respect and our luuuuveeeee ;D

It was just a little suggestion and I definitely agree that we should tread Kate with the up most class and dignity that she so rightfully deserves...I know that in regard to the stories that I was speaking of one was very well done in the alternate universe style on another Kate fanfic board that was created a long time ago and since abandoned since it got infiltrated with spam like many of the yahoo boards do...the others were more like story/movie continuations...which are pretty fun to read... I will go with the consensus though...and agree with the decision Courtney
