My Big Fat Greek Wedding: It amazes me when I watch this movie to see the similarities between her family and my ex-roommate's Greek family. With the exception of the Windex remedy. Anyway, it's a cute movie. I didn't realize Nia Vardalos wrote it until the other night (after like my 6th time watching it).

Over the past two weeks I've seen...
Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid with Steve Martin, Fritz Lang's M with Peter Lorre, Killer McCoy with Mickey Rooney, Midnight Lace with Doris Day, It Came From Beneath The Sea with Robert Gordon, The Exorcist III with George C. Scott, and a whole string of Alfred Hitchcock's movies starting with Juno And The Paycock, The Skin Game, Sabotage, Topaz, and Young And Innocent.
And through Netflix I watched...
Paris When It Sizzles with William Holden and Audrey Hepburn, All Quiet On The Western Front with Lew Ayres, and Robin And Marian with Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn.
I've seen too many to comment on them individually, but I will say that Alfred Hitchcock's Juno And The Paycock and The Skin Game are quite possibly the worst films I've ever seen by him. Topaz was interesting but I didn't really care too much for it. Sabotage and Young And Innocent were decent. I like the latter better.
I thought Audrey Hepburn was pretty good in Paris When It Sizzles alongside William Holden, but her next movie co-starring Sean Connery in Robin And Marian didn't really fulfill my expectations. I like Connery, but the movie stunk. It was boring.
I thought All Quiet On The Western Front was good, and taking into account when the film was made, I also thought it must've been a pretty big deal. The impact was probably similar to that of Birth of a Nation. I don't want to be crucified for saying this film is a little outdated. I thought it was.

Psycho (1960)-Such an awesome movie, it's one of my favorite Hitchcock films (another being Rear Window). Watching this made me realize how bad the next film I watched was...
Psycho (1998)-A horrible, horrible, horrible movie and possibly the worst remake ever! Anne Heache (or however the hell you spell it) and the guy that played Bates were dreadful compared to the original actors. I don't see the point in remaking a movie if you are going to shoot it EXACTLY the same...a waste of my time and the time of the people who made it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
In light of Halloween (despite this post being a day late), what is your favorite horror/scary/suspense/thriller movie?

I didn't think the remake of Psycho was horrible. I just didn't see the point. Vince Vaughn is a lame Norman Bates. My favorite horror movie all of time is John Carpenter's Halloween. It is unlikely to ever be surpassed. Other honorable mentions: Phantasm Friday the 13th Prom Night Psycho (1960) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) Dawn Of The Dead (1979)

Pet Semetary -- one of my favorite horror movies I was totally traumatized as a kid by the scene where Jud -- Fred Gwynne (The Munsters!) -- is crouching to look under the bed and Gage, the resurrected kid, slices his achilles. Oh man I still think about that scene. Madonna: Truth or Dare -- She was amazingly immature just 14 years ago. But she expressed herself and was a great performer so who cares? ;D Madonna:I'm Going To Tell You a Secret -- I just have to say that I have "Hung Up" on my ringer. So cool. Madonna is one day older than my mother. Crazy. Dolls: This movie is sooo funny! And gross! I remember seeing this when I was like, 7 (yeah, I didn't have a lot of boundaries when I was little), and it freaked me out so much that whenever I went to bed, I put all my stuffed animals and dolls in the closet and closed it. I had one particular doll that I wouldn't even let be in the same room with me. It was a porcelain Victorian-era doll with brown hair and a seafoam green dress. I took it into my mom's room and left it there until I got over it. I wonder what happened to that thing. Probably off murdering some poor unsuspecting folks. Miranda: with Chrisinta Ricci. Not that great... but it reminded me how beautiful Christina Ricci can be.

PS The remake of Psycho wasn't that bad... although WHY would anyone want to remake that movie? Leave it alone! And come on, Vince Vaughn wasn't THAT horrible.

He wasn't horrible, I just said he was lame. In my opinion, I think, it would be a challenge for any director to cast a modern actor to play such a lonely curious yet secretive and memorable role as Norman Bates. Anthony Perkins was brilliant in that role. God rest his soul.

No, Vaughn was horrible. Or har-rible in the words of KH ;D Vaughn's attempt at the creepy Norman Bates giggle was lost on me, whereas Perkins' laugh was brilliant. Maybe it's just me. I tend to overly criticize remakes of classic movies. Pet Semetary was very freaky; it is the first horror movie I can remember watching. The scene where that old woman (I think the she played the young woman's sister ) runs up to the camera from the other side of the room...CREEPY!

Never underestimate Stephen King, or his movies. What's everyone's opinion on IT?

"IT" is very good, but it isn't my favorite horror movie. Whenever I watch this I always try and decide if I like the kid's or the adult's stories better...probably the adults because I love Annette O'Toole.

I would have to go with the kid's stories. I don't know why really... I guess because I'm still a kid and I relate somehow.
Have we ever talked about Creepshow? I could've swore someone brought that up. God... I love that movie. Creepshow 2 too.

IT is probably one of the first -- if not the first -- horror movies I saw. My grandmother, of all people, had it and whenever I went to her house I would watch The Wizard of Oz, SNL: The Best of Gilda Radner, or IT. Strange array of movies/shows, yes ;D Anyway, I never walked past a gutter without making sure I cleared it by a good four or five feet... I couldn't take a shower or bath without thinking a balloon was going to inflate in the drain or wash my face in the sink without opening my eyes every few seconds to make sure it wasn't blood. I was only seven or eight! And I never said I was normal. Anyway... I watched that movie recently and I can't believe it actually traumatized me that much. It was pretty boring, really. The clown was pretty freaking scary but that's about it.
That reminds me. I saw House of 1000 Corpses a while back... I don't think I ever mentioned it. I was practically forced into watching this movie. I didn't think it would be worth a damn but it was actually pretty creepy... I thought. Maybe gross, perverse and deranged are better words. I thought it was pretty funny that Erin Daniels, the girl who plays a lesbian tennis player on The L Word played the "girl who got away" in this movie. So, yeah, overall, House was a pretty decent horror flick.

Fahrenheit 9/11: OK... I'm all for Bush bashing but this is a totally one-sided "documentary." It was fun to watch and at some points I actually felt sorry for W. It didn't last long, though. Michael Moore is somewhat of a propaganda-lover. I'd be interested to know how much of the stuff he said is true (Saudi Arabia owning 7% of the United States... Bush's oil companies getting $1.4 (?) billion per year from the Saudis while we give Bush $400,000/year. The guy they blacked out on Bush's military records as being the liaison between Bush and the Saudis). Anyway, not to start a political topic or anything. I just hate our president. ;D By the way, I think the best scene (and saddest) is when, during the inaugeral parade, Bush's car gets egged, people riot and picket with signs saying "you're not my president"... "bush cheated". The only time in history that it's happened. What happened to America respecting its president? Oh yeah, we woke up. And... got a retard for a president. That we didn't elect.

Not to start a war or anything, but I'm tired of hearing people gripe about Bush. I don't mind him that much. Just say to yourself "only three more years, only three more years.." ;D
