I didn't intend to post now because it's getting late, but this is incredible. I remember what Shaun said many months ago in reference to pictures: "Nice and big just how I like them"! Truly lovely.

hey, wise hepburn fans. i have been leafing through (and saving) these shots and focusing in particular on the many PHILADELPHIA STORY stage production stills made available by LIFE (through Google) ... some familiar .. many slightly different shots from the same 'sitting' or occasion, as it were. i see that these are dated variously ... i'm talking about the eisenstaedt photos primarily .. such as those featured in the wonderful strips of test shots dreamer features in the first post here (my current wallpaper .. ) .. anyway ... dates noted here and on various boards for these shots vary from 1938 through 1941 or 1942 for these shots. Now its true that Kate toured with the show through these years .. but can we tie down these shots more specifically, date wise? the organizing part of my brain is fighting with the artistic appreciating part of my brain at the moment. ow. down gemini down.

Wise I am not ;D - but from various stage magazines/playbills I have collected some dates for TPS: Schubert Theatre - New York Premiere: March 28, 1939-March 30, 1940 Performances: 417 and on tour 1940-1942 Court Theatre - New York (April 24, 1939-) Fords Theatre - Washington DC (April 01-06, 1940) Hartman Theatre (Season 40/41) Paramount Theatre (October 21, 1940-) Park Theatre Lyrics Theatre - Richmond (January 31-February 1, (not sure about year here) Fords Theatre - Washington DC (March 09, 1942-) So yes Kate was on tour with TPS also in 1942. The Internet Broadway Database is a great source - you can read more about the cast and dates here www.ibdb.com/production.php?id=12441As for when Alfred Eisenstaedt took the photos with Kate - not sure - one site www.vpphotogallery.com/photog_eisen_katharinehepburn.htm mentiones that he took the series which this one is from in 1938 but I doubt it - as TPS first started in March 1939 On the Schubert Theatre site they write: One could assume that the pictures are from 1939 - but as it is only an assumption of mine - SO will pass on that question for someone else to answer

I don't have the tour dates. I've always planned to pull out all the programs I have and put those dates together for all her stage appearances, but procrastination is my middle name - first and last, too. But my educated guess would be '39 for these shots. Oh, and dreamer, just a small correction to your list - off the top of my head. TPS played at the Shubert in NYC from March 39-March 40. Then you show the post B'way tour beginning with the Court in NY. That's not correct. I'll try to put together a list over the weekend - of what I know.

Of course, I'm also confusing Alfred Eisenstaedt with the Vandamm shots, which were definitely 39 - but then, Martha, you weren't asking about those......So just color me tired and confused....I'll do some searching on the weekend...

haha Judy - I went that tour with Vandamm as well. And yes you are of course right - it was the Sam Schubert Theatre from 04.24.1939- (not the Court Theatre) Tsks tsks When TPS was played at the Court Theatre in Chigago - I don't know. Am possitive though that you will tell that sometime this weekend

Hello boys and girls - might I suggest that in addition to searching for KathArine and KathErine Hepburn on this Google LIFE site that you also do a search for Kate Hepburn.
You will not be disappointed.
Trust me.

Hello boys and girls - might I suggest that in addition to searching for KathArine and KathErine Hepburn on this Google LIFE site that you also do a search for Kate Hepburn. You will not be disappointed. Trust me. Replying to myself, may I add how funny I think it is that if you do the search for KathArine - 3 pages of photos come up. But if you do it for KathErine or for Kate Hepburn, they each come up with 10 pages! Shame on you Google.... By the way, once you get past page 7 of the Kate Hepburn search, some of the ones that are in the other searches begin to appear. But those first 7 with the Eliot Elisofon shots? Sensational. That's the only word I can think of. Hell, they are ALL sensational, but these are mostly unseen by human eyes before. At least by this human. I have one of those shots in my collection, but I never dreamed there were so many more and such wonderful ones. Did I say sensational? Yeah, I guess I did.

OH. MY. SAINTED. AUNT.
::QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK::
I *should* be working now. I just scared the hell out of my Independent Study Professor. Legit frighten; the burning, seering rays of judgement are upon me. But I can't help it! I mean, after YEARS upon YEARS of envisioning what Kate looked like when she threw that tantrum in The Millionairess [Grant you, more than just that one picture we have of it], I HAVE FINALLY SEEN IT. And I was 100% accurate. And I'm only on the first image. I'm getting the stink-eye which is quickly developing into a death-glare. Does't he understand that there are very few things in life that give me such profound joy? The fresh smell of linen; The cold side of the pillow; Bagel Bites; Brand spankin' new Kate pictures. I think I need to write a poem.
Uh-oh, gotta go!!!!

I found this site a couple of days ago and they have great pictures. I'm glad they are big as well and the watermark isn't in the middle of the picture. I never thought to look up 'Kate' or 'Katharine' They were hiding these from me! lol
