Hi all: I know there's a thread about this somewhere - I remember reading groans about the pink - but there are SO many threads that I can't find it. Anyway, just wanted to report on the packaging because I received an advance copy of the set. I have a lot of DVDs but none packaged quite this way - and that's both good and bad.
The hard outer box is encased in a slip on/off hard plastic case that is see through. The photo you see on the cover is on the hard box and not on the plastic. What is printed on the plastic outer case is the title and the pink color on the front and on the back, a band with text about the films contained in the set, set against that pink background. But you can also see through parts of it to reveal a shot of her in Sylvia Scarlett (which is, again, NOT on the plastic shell but on the box it houses.
When you slip OFF the plastic shell, you are left with a hard outer box on which is her photo on the front - which has never been one of my favorites, but the more I look at it the more I think it's pretty cool - with that direct, challenging gaze - and on the back there are more photos that are covered by the pink band when the plastic is on.
Then the hard box unfolds into panels onto which are secured the 6 DVDs. There are also photos on the box inside - Morning Glory, Undercurrent, The Corn is Green - and scene breakdowns.
I'm not thrilled about this type of packaging that unfolds. I prefer to have each DVD in it's own slim box with some cover art (so now I'm not sure what's up with that Without Love DVD being offered on eBay; maybe it's a home made cover). But I will say that the GOOD thing is that the plastic shell - while admittedly very pink - comes in handy because when it is slipped ON you avoid nasty fingerprints on the photos.
And that's likely more than you EVER wanted to know about this thing.
Just thought I'd play consumer reporter.
