So, I promised you these GWCTD caps, like, a week ago. MY BAD. Without further ado: Spence is so precious in this movie. It looks like Kath just picked Kathy up from school. And now they're going grocery shopping at the county produce market. Or something like that. Ps, Nice skirt there. Stylin'. I'm really sad that I am not in this pic. Really dorky. AHHHHHHH KATHY YOUR TRENCH. AHHH KATH YOUR... Uhm, houndstooth scarf. Kate would make a great children's ride driver. This looks like 45873488 kinds of fun, man. Puttin' on camera makeup. Sigh. Kathy, you are so gawguss. Heh. Huh. Meh. Unknown trophy! I'm obsessed with this pic. CHEEKBUMP WHAT WHAT. Hi, I want her hair. So. Pretty. ::QUACKS AROUND THE ROOM FOR 15 MINUTES:: Skateboardin'! Oh My Stars, Spence. Kathy go Uh-Oh! Also, please note the Aunt Kat and Me picture frame resting on that cawfee table. *squees* Does anybody find it hilarious that they got the DELIVERY BOY to do this feature? This is horrid cap of him, though. He looks like a stoned fish. Whatevs, SKIPPY IZ MAH HOMEBOY. *high fives* Then it got really emotional: Karen Kramer is happy! Kathy Houghton is happy! She had a moment, man. It was intense. I also bawled like a huge dork. Several times. Guh. Also, I include this because Karen Kramer is wearing the sea: She really lost it. The End! Also, I win because I can name pix like a champ. <3333333333333

Spence: "that's everything" Kate-Kate: boarding, walking, whatever they did ... sigh. all great. Never everything. and yes .. the delivery geek was an amusing, no goofy, but maybe inspired bit of inclusion in the commentary. sublime to the ridiculous ... all of that. all at once.

The still with Kate and Kathy -- the one where they are seen being put with makeup on, is that actual footage?
Thanks Amber. I need to get this DVD fast!

The still with Kate and Kathy -- the one where they are seen being put with makeup on, is that actual footage? Thanks Amber. I need to get this DVD fast! It's a still shot shown during one of the featurettes on the DVD, Richard, but not actual footage from the movie. (Did I understand your question?) And the shot of aunt and niece that's on the table in the background of the shot of Kathy talking in the featurette is a publicity shot from the film, not a private one. Still - all terrific to see. And, yes. You need to get it. Fast.....I haven't watched the actual film on the DVD, but judging from the clips they show in the featurettes to illustrate certain points, it's pristine.

So....there's no reason why you SHOULD remember this, but some of you might recall that I posted somewhere the story of how GWCTD was the first Kate movie I ever saw. In its initial release. I was 13. I was a fan of Bette and Ingrid because my sister and mother, respectively, were. And I was aware of a few others whom they liked and, thus, I liked. But Kate Hepburn was not on their radar (how strange!). So I had no idea who she was, let alone the history of Hepburn and Tracy. I just went to the movie cause I was in love with Sidney Poitier. And I came out of the theatre unable to think of anything but that woman who played the wife/mother.
This is why this movie - whatever its technical flaws or however heavy-handed its direction or script may be (in parts) - will always hold a special place in my heart. I will never forget that first sight of KH as she rushed through the front door to find out what Joey was doing home. Like a brisk wind. And it changed my life...sort of....

I remembered reading about a Kate fan whose mother and sister were fans of Davis and Bergman but I had forgotten who it was from. I should have known!

HAH. You're welcome, Shaun? I would have posted more pix of Spence, but everybody knows I am ALL about Kathy Houghton. She's the reason I bought the thing. And hi, SHE HAS AR HAIR. Almost. I have tons o' pix of her [HAIR] alone. That is PATHETIC, I tell you.
When you get YOUR DVD, feel free to cap heart-breaking photos of him.
Just jokes. You should know this.
And you're welcome, everybody else!

@judy: With me it was similar. I also saw this film as first with Kate and did not know who was they. After this film I wanted to find out everything about Katharine Hepburn and this was not at all so simply without Web ....:-)
