As part of Summer Under the Stars, TCM is showing a selection of Kate's films for 24 hours. Great opportunity to DVR, DVD, or tape something missing from your collection. Or if you have them all -- well, just sit back and enjoy a day with Katharine Hepburn -- not a bad way to spend a day. Sherry

Great news Sherry - at least for most of you. Unfortunately, I can't get TCM. Aaaaaah Which films are showing? (in the vain hope that I've seen them all anyway and won't feel too deprived)

Here's what's playing:
Katharine Hepburn: All About Me Little Women Quality Street Stage Door Bringing Up Baby Philadelphia Story, The Woman Of The Year Adam's Rib African Queen, The Rooster Cogburn Long Day's Journey into Night Spitfire Christopher Strong
I've seen all of these titles; I think I've seen every Kate movie TCM has to offer. Now it's time to start buying old vhs from ebay.

Thanks Shaun! I have yet to see Rooster Cogburn. Or Christopher Strong! And Spitfire! Hi Catherine, Hope you see all three. Rooster Cogburn has a plot that makes it a western version of AQ. It's not nearly as good a film as AQ but it's fun to see Kate and Wayne perform together and by all accounts they enjoyed one working together despite being diametrically opposed politically and socially. Christopher Strong is not the greatest film ever made -no fault of Kate's -- but you can't take your eyes off of Kate because she just grabs the part and plays Cynthia Darrington as such an on the edge, up front, modern woman. She's totally believable. Was daring too in that she becomes pregnant by a married man and commits suicide. Didn't find that happening to a lot of stars at the end of a film. Plus who can't love a film in which Kate is dressed in a moth costume which accentuates every inch of her beautiful bod? Plus I liked the image that it provokes that of the moth getting too close to the flame and ultimately being consumed by it. Walter Plunkett who designed the costume was a genius. Spitifire -- what can I say? I'll use the word "unusual". Yeah, Kate is the Bryn Mawr hillbilly in this one BUT bottomline -- the feistiness of her character is totally believable and you are pulling for her cause life has dealt her a rotten hand and you want more for her just as she wants more for herself. So overlook the fact that Kate as a poor mountain woman is a real s-t-r-e-a-c-h but also appreciate what she does with the part. Have fun seeing them. Sherry

Yeah I've heard that Christopher Strong and Spitfire aren't among her best but I still want to see them of course. Who knows, maybe I'll like them. That happens a lot . . . Liking movies that most people think are horrible lol And the moth costume -- definitely worth seeing CS for ;D

Liking movies that most people think are horrible lol And the moth costume -- definitely worth seeing CS for ;D A colleague of mine interviewed Kate in connection with a book on Walter Plunkett that never saw the light of day. But he asked her if the moth costume was uncomfortable and she said it "No. It weighed a ton, but it wasn't uncomfortable." 2nd movie and she was over the title. Weird, dated thing. But a must for every Kateaholic - as is Spitfire. So watch, watch.... Judy
