Does anyone have anything rare that they've collected or any letters they've received from Kate (like Judy!)? I've noticed online that there are a lot of people selling personal things of Kate like checks and drafts of letters she wrote to have -- I'm assuming -- Phyllis type out for her. I'm wondering if these people went through her trash or what... kind of sad. But it is interesting to see her handwriting change through the years. Barely legible from the eighties on...

Well I don't have original copies but I have seen some very rare letters that Katharine wrote . In the collection there are about 60 letters which start in 1955 when Katharine was in Australia and continue until 1990 when the person died . Believe me Katharine 's writing is always hard to understand . Katharine used to write letters on the back of hotel stationary - whatever she could get her hands on . Subjects range from the death of her father , the 1955 tour and of course Spencer - those written about Spencer are especially moving . I also have copies of some rare photographs from the same collection.

Very cool. To whom was she writing the letters? It would be interesting to see some personal correspondence since most of the ones I've seen (online) have been to fans. They are usually typed and then signed and very brief. I know that she only signed "Kate" when writing to an acquaintance and "Katharine" when writing to fans or for formal letters.
Did anyone go to the exhibit a year or two ago before her estate auction that had some of her furniture, photographs and letters? If only I had discovered her a few years ago! I definitely would have visited 49th street!

The letters that I saw were written to a number of people including Pat Jarrett - an Australian journalist who Katharine met in Australia - Maie Casey - another Australian friend whose husband later became the Governer General of Australia and Bobbie Helpmann.
They range from brief to funny to poignant - the letters written about Spencer are very moving and they include descriptions of the night of his death .
I don't post personal letters on public forums but you are always welcome to email me privately .

That's a cool idea. . . . Neither of those really look like her -- the one on the right looks like a cross between Lauren Bacall, Kate and someone else I can't think of. The one on the left. . . Florence Henderson? LoL

All of them had hair of gold. . . . like their mother. The youngest one in curls. ;D
lolol It's unfortunate Kate cahn't join them! Although she might not be too keen on having tea with Henry Fonda.

Isn't there some sort of rule in the U.S. that a person has to be dead for ten years before they're put on a stamp?
Here's a story...of a man named Brady...who was busy with three boys of his own. They were four men, living all together...yet they were all alone.
Whose next? ;D
