So... I spotted this at B&N tonight. I flipped through his gorgeous photographs, mesmerized by every last picture... then I came upon Kate! Guess what. Her name was spelled with an 'e.'

Ahahahahaha Shaun! ;D I know, though. They are quite protruding aren't they? (damn, I keep writing in the present tense, but I'll be dipped if I'm going to change it) My first thought when seeing that pic for the first time : "Watch out! Stand too close to those things, you might cut yourself!" And poo on them for spelling it with an 'e'. One thing that really burns my goat is when people who claim to be her #1 fan brag about how much they know about her and then don't even have the brains to check to see if they spelled her name right. Oh people...

So... I spotted this at B&N tonight. I flipped through his gorgeous photographs, mesmerized by every last picture... then I came upon Kate! Guess what. Her name was spelled with an 'e.' There is another one also that Avedon did of Kate. Both were published in The New Yorker in a tribute written at the time of her death. The article is "Born for the Part" the July 14 & 21, 2003 issue. The other photo is equally dramatic. Kate's hair is down and she is looking directly at the camera -- no smile -- quite a stark image of her. I much prefer this photo of her but both are very dramatic photos and both captured Kate in a way that no other photographer had. She just had a perfect face that the camera loved because all of those planes and angles made light do magical things when it was reflected off of them. Plus it didn't hurt that her nose is perfectly straight and proportioned to her face and the forehead is also perfectly straight and she has beautiful eyes and a mouth that could look terribly sad one minute and then she'd smile and it was dazzling to see. Yes -- Kate was a photog's dream. Sherry

I really want to see that other photo Avedon took of her. It sounds interesting, or should I say fascinating ;D

I was just thinking -- is that the picture of Kate with her collar up (that narrows it down), sort of looking over her shoulder with almost a frown?
