Does anyone know if any authors have a new Kate biography in the works? It be great to read one that covered her life and career respectably and included new details about her life without sounding like some tabloid rag.

Doesn't sound particularly inspiring, but does anyone have any further information on this biography, due to be published by Haus Publishing in their Life & Times series?

Eileen Considine Meara (daughter of Kate's cook) has apparently also written a book due out in November 2006 about growing up in Hepburn's kitchen. No idea if it consists of sweet & innocent reflections or whether - God forbid - it's some sort of "kiss & tale" tome.
Which period is it likely to cover? I mean does anyone know when & for how long the cook in question worked for Kate?

It was put together as a tribute to both KH and to Considine-Meara's mother, Nora, whom I'm sure you know worked for Kate for 30 years. The book was originally promised for publication to coincide with the Sotheby's auction. In fact, at the auction there was a dummy copy that looked wonderful, full of anecdotes, recipes and the like. Most things in publishing take forever, however, and that original deal fell through. However, Considine-Meara has a new publisher and so the project is moving forward. I'm sure the design will have changed a great deal from the dummy copy I flipped through at Sotheby's, but it promises to be a loving look at Kate and all the famous folk who passsed through the doors of 244 E. 49th Street over the years. I think this is one we will like. Judy

I don't expect much from this book - its probably one in a series.
The way its been written brings up an interesting question which could be a topic for future biographers - Katharine's relationship with the press . I know she was was pretty young when she arrived and yes she could be prickly but some of the reports about her were pretty sexist .
