I finally have the soundtrack! And where did I find it? A used CD/movie store of all places. I couldn't find it anywhere else (not even B&N or Best Buy) so when I was there, I suddenly remembered Coco... and thought 'nah, like they're really going to have that.' But I went over there anyway and there it was!!! I was so excited. In fact I couldn't believe my eyes. I had to look it over and see the words "Katharine Hepburn" before I could believe it was the one. So of course, I went home and listened to the entire thing from beginning to finish. Maybe the opinion is biased but I think Kate did a wonderful job. I love that jabbing voice that comes between the usual musical ballads (Gale Dixon was my favorite). And the story was great. I didn't realize how witty it was. "You don't dress for us, you dress for each other!" or something like that. So true. The rhythm of the words, the rhyming and of course the subject! ... a great play, imo. I would have loved to see it live!

I imagine that seeing Kate in any of her plays live would have been amazing; personally, I would have loved to seen her in 'The Philadelphia Story.' I suppose there aren't any video clips of her stage performances...probably didn't film plays back then. I guess the closest that I'll ever get to seing Kate perform live is listening to the 'Coco' soundtrack, and from your review, it sounds like something I may have to end up buying ;D

The Philadelphia Story would have been amazing to see. I wouldn't have minded seeing The Woman in the Moone either ;D

Oh, but you CAN see her onstage - for just a bit. On BROADWAY'S LOST TREASURES 2 - a DVD containing numbers from the Tony Award shows over the years. The Amazon link is below. There is a 15 minute extra on the DVD of Kate singing/performing "Always Mademoiselle" - the segment from COCO that ran on the show the year she was nominated. If you wanna get just a taste of how sensational she was onstage, run - don't walk - and get it. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002TSZN8/002-2761252-1404811?v=glance&n=130&v=glanceAnd if any of you are real theatre nuts, there's also BROADWAY'S LOST TREASURES 1. Both installments are worth adding to your library, but for us Hepburn nuts, volume 2 is a gift. Judy

Perhaps when you get it, Catherine you could share the clip with us like I did with the AFI thing I really don't want to spend 20 bucks for a five minute clip-I would if I was really into Broadway plays-I'm not.

hello all
I can't remember if I mentioned it here, but I did finally win the Coco record on e-bay, and all in one piece this time! I love hearing Kate's voice coming from my record player! And I love the story of Coco Chanel. I think I'm going to read up on her. However, I was wondering if anyone knows if the lyrics are available anywhere? I can't find them anywhere online.
Love Gem

They could have at least taped a rehearsal performance at some point. Guuuhhh.
