Okay I thought we could list all of the best characters of Kate's. I know they're all wonderful but what parts made her really shine? Like Tracy Lord in TPS. Any takers?

I love Susan Vance in BUB. She's so ditzy and chaotic, but there's method behind her madness and you can sort of understand her, even if she does do things a bit back to front.
Love Gem

I'd second Susan Vance, Gem - a great character in my favourite film of all time. But then it's hard to ignore Tracy Lord, Tess Harding, Terry Randall, Rosie Sayer, Eleanor of Acquitaine, Jane Hudson, Margaret Delafield and... I could go on and on. Then of course, she was perfect as Jo March. What an unfair and impossible question!

Oh well, the list continues: Alice Adams, Amanda Bonner, Linda Seton, Jo March... wow what was I thinking doing this question?

You're on the right track listing so many characters. But you've still missed the point hehe.
I think we would all agree that while Kate played all those characters in movies, and its not real life, there is very much an element/elements of Kate herself in all of her parts. But the point is that no one part displays all those elements accurately, nor could they, nor should they. Kate was too diverse and complex and multi layered and interesting for one character to sum her up. Its silly to think so.
But I do think that all the characters together come pretty close.

Of her early movies I would say personally Holiday fits her personality very well someone who was really interested in the important things money could not buy love friendship loyalty and most of all fun. I would also agree that TPS fits her to a T and is a movie that teaches anyone that even with money that humility is not overrated Of her later movies I would say the part that fits her best is Lion In Winter )ok I am predudiced of course but nonetheless it kind of reminds me of how she lived her later life with courage fire and determination Thankfully her performances live on and we can enjoy them over and over

Eva Lovelace! A biotopic of Kate in my opinion. She almost was that morning glory.
