Reading through this thread it looked like this was a rare instance when Australia got a DVD release before the US and other parts of the world.. so does everyone own African Queen now?
Oh, and MAJOR question... the part when they're going down the rapids, does anyone elses DVD for like a full on 2-4 seconds worth - it turns from colour to b&w? Is this on everyone's DVD or just mine? There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the entire film except for that one part and it is when I play it on ANY DVD player. If y'all don't know what I'm talking about I'll get it out and screen cap the part I'm talking about. It's like the camera had some issues and went to b&w for a few seconds, after that it's fine. It's reallly annoying!

Whut? Mind helping a brother out and screencappin' that mess?
And they shot the rapids three times [Actually, they shot 'em twice, and by the third time they just sort of.........fell off. The river, I mean.], so in which scene does the B&W-ness occur?

I can't recall that my region 2 does that - but if you will tell when (time) - will check with mine as well.

GRRRRRRRRRRRr I'm trying to get a screen cap for y'all but it's not working for some reason. The pictures are turning out black, like the screen cap isn't taking for some reason. SOOO frustrating. I'll try on another computer later. wish you guys could see it, like I said it's when they're going down the rapids and it's for a good 3-4 seconds! Jess

Jess I think that has to do with your video player (unless you've never had this problem before... then I have no idea). Try playing the video with a different program, like VLC media player, which is free (and safe) to download download.cnet.com/VLC-Media-Player/3000-13632_4-10267151.html?tag=mncol

Thanks Alicia! It wasn't letting me play it on my usual "PowerDVD" as it is locked to Region 2 for some stupid reason, so I was using the wierd one you can play everything on. Thanks for the link! I just downloaded it so we'll see if it plays TAQ! My college has that program on their computers so I'm sure it's safe Jess

So who has bought their copy of the new DVD? I just bought mine today. I got the standard DVD version because thats the only one the store had, and I don't have a Blu-ray player. But I was wondering, has anyone purchased the Blu-ray version? I'm curious about what features it has, and are they different from the standard? The standard just has the "making of" feature, and I was wondering what I'm missing...

I have the standard DVD boxed set. I'm pretty certain that the documentary that's on it is also the only extra that's on the Blu-ray version. Don't think the Blu-ray has anything more. But what both the DVD and Blu-ray boxed sets include is a second CD with an audio of the Bogart/Greer Garson radio version of the movie. In my opinion - the documentary as some great moments but also some not-so-great moments. I won't harp on the not-so-great but will tell you that the great include never-before-seen - at least they are new to me - home movies (I think from Jack Cardiff's estate) and stills of Kate, Bogie, Huston and Bacall on the set. There are a few really priceless home movie clips that are all too brief but are terrific. But the real gem is the movie, which looks sensational. Judy

Judy One more thing: I wasn't sure if you meant that you bought the single DVD or the boxed set. In addition to the radio broadcast, both the DVD and Blu-ray boxed sets include a copy of Kate's wonderful book on the making of the movie - shrinked down to a miniature size - 8 b/w postcard-size photos from the movie, as well as a Senitype with four film frames of the Queen (blue, magenta, yellow and full color) that illustrate the Technicolor process.
