So, a little TREAT for my Kath fans here! I just ordered this film on Amazon on VHS, and I figured out how to record a VHS onto a DVD-R...anddd I uploaded Keeper of the Flame to YouTube!! ;D I hope you will enjoy it! I wanted to upload it for those who have not seen it since it is very hard to find. I had to buy it through a seller on Amazon, and there were not many copies. It truly is an underrated film and I wanted to share this film with others because I really do enjoy it very much. Kate's monologue at the end is amazing and they both just look stunning in this film! The drama is superb as well. Here is the playlist link: www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=1B221696D10CB68AEnjoy!

Hi Thanks so much for sharing ...actually I already ordered this video from Amazon a few months ago and I loved it I thought it was a very good movie…very dramatic ...and Kate looked really gorgeous and Spence was brilliant!!!! If you don't mind sending me a PM or telling me here how to do it...I would love to know how to convert VHS onto DVD so I can share some of my stuff like "The Sea of Grass"..."All about Me"...and some other interviews like Larry King and her biography's Thanks Court

I am watching this for the first time and am sooo excited! Unfortunately because of my busy college schedule I will be "working" on the computer on my studies while watching it.
So far (as my Facebook friends might have noticed from my status) it is very much so reminiscent of a Bogie Bacall film rather than a ST KH film. It kinda reminds me of Dark Passage so far lol the brunette's cute, who's she? I think I'll have to watch this a few times to get it. I still don't understand the importance of the guy who dies in the very begining. Is he a politician? Is that what I missed?
Come on Kate, where are ya gal??! If I were in the cinema at the time, I'd be shouting "Where's Kate already!?" lol we're 8 minutes in and no Kate.. not good enough! lol
Stay tuned for updates and tidbits.

24 grueling minutes without a sign of Kathy..
Wait... there she is! Well with an introductory shot like that all beautifully lit and all, no wonder they made us wait so long.
She's like buttah!

Great ending really. But I did want to bash the living daylights out of the screen when we were once again deprived of a Tracy Hepburn make out scene. Come on guys, seriously!
Good movie. A bit on the serious side but it's a 'keeper' (pardon the pun).
Thanks to my friend who was able to copy it for me from her cable TV (as I do not have cable TV, it is very costly in Australia)!

Oh dreamer, I was so excited to see Kate finally appear! As far as re-watching. I think this is a yearly one for me. It was a good film but like many of those mystery types a little confusing at times. Like I said, it totally reminded me of a Bogie Bacall vehicle rather than a Kate and Spence movie. I can totally see those two in Kate and Spence's roles.. although if it were Bogie and his Baby there would have been some major making out sessions (on and off the screen I might add) which is what I was missing from the end of this movie. The characters obviously weren't 'love at first sight' but they developed an understanding and what's the word I'm looking for... respect for each other, I thought deserved at least one kiss! But that's just me, after WOTY whenever there's a ST KH movie without kissing I'm going to complain okay folks, it's just how it is lol So a long winded answer to your question, but yeah a once per year movie for me. Maybe twice. Not something I could watch on 'repeat' like Desk Set where I will watch it for days on end but it's not something like one of the later movies I watched that I will probably never watch again, although Kate had some great one liners haha.. it was just wierd and I didn't get it. It was in her laaaater years, like a telemovie about the trial or something? Men in top hats is coming to mind.. anyway, that's one I will probably never watch again but this one will definately be a one year'er Jess

Then think of this
from imdb trivia
So hadn't Kate talked to Mayer - there had been no romance at all - if I understand the trivia right.
But I also think that - because of the death of her husband - there was/is supposed to be a certain amount of time before a romance with kisses could be shown in the 40s. And that time wasn't given in the storyline. So if you consider that - we couldn't expect scenes like in WOTY or AR. Even though they would have been great - but not suitable then or now.

WOW! Kate's talk with Mr Mayer made this movie MORE romantic? I think you're right, that's how I interpreted it as well.. sheeeesh! I'd hate to have thought what would have happened had she not spoken to him haha.. go Kate!
There's still no kissing in AR. There's closeness like Pat and Mike, but no kissing as far as I recall!! I haven't seen all of the ST films but I assume after WOTY there was NO on screen kissing for the pair after. Like Fred & Ginger, amazingly as romantic as their films were they had noly one or two on screen kisses in their ten films!! EEK!

This was the third and, as of this posting, most recently watched film in the Tracy & Hepburn box set. The whole aspect of facism creeping into America dates it, and the story does have some issues here and there. I also wasn't impressed with the child playing Jeb, but I have an issue with most child actors of the era - they had a tendency to overact and overthink. When you have people like Kate, who maybe wasn't extremely natural in her style but still made everything look effortless, and Spence, who was as natural as they come, most people, child or adult, seem artificial and overwrought by comparison. But in general, it was well-made and the suspense plays out nicely.
