YESSSSSSSS!
I was seriously contemplating creating a Facebook group for this movie/Kath two days ago. How appropriate and exclusive would THAT be?
Man, we are the coolest people ever.
[Phyll, if you are reading this, we NEED to watch this together. We can make Kate brownies, too. And this time they won't blow up. I have the recipe.]

dont know why but i just love this scene in the movie..
linda: "you wouldnt care to step into a waltz as the old year dies would you mr. case?"
johnny: "yes i would id love it".."theres a conspiracy against you and me child"
linda:"whats that?"
*****someone help-what does Cary say here? i cant quite figure it out..something interest..
johnny: "they wont let you have any fun and they wont gimme anytime to think"
linda: "i suppose like the little fathead you are you told father all your little hopes and dreams".."pretty disappointing huh"
johnny: "bad enough"
linda: "poor boy"
johnny: "hey what about your own evening?"
linda:"not so hard either"
johnny: "poor girl"

Oooh the club sounds neato. Certainly better than the others for Katie that there are on facebook, and which I clutch at. Like straws in my bare hands.
I ah...Holiday! Oh yes.
I read that Rita Hayworth nearly got the part of the sister. What a shame she didn't. That Doris Nolan is dreadful. I mean, I know the sister is supposed to be dreadful, but...as a person...for Cary. She should be likable at least, just...not for Cary.
Also Kate + Rita is an exciting equation to me.

Rita Hayworth would indeed have been interesting to see paired with Cary Grant. But not in Holiday - that's MHO. The Juila Seton character was supposed to be (using your word) dreadful. Nolan had a certain air about her and that was used brilliantly for her Julia Seton. Sorry - but I can't see the lovely hot Rita Hayworth (as I see her more like a Marilyn Monroe as an charachter player) in the part as Julia.

Rita Hayworth would indeed have been interesting to see paired with Cary Grant. Well they did do Only Angels Have Wings together. But she was in a fairly small supporting role. I think she and Cary would have made a hell of a couple. I also think that Rita would have been good in The Barefoot Contessa, instead of Ava Gardner. As beautiful as Gardner could be, her acting is quite wooden to me. Rita was a bit too sometimes, but she had ...something. I don't know what. But she had something. I read that Rita was offered The Barefoot Contessa, and turned it down because it was too similar to her own life. And Bogart was offered the part of Johnny Farrell in Gilda and turned it down. It's a shame they never paired either. Sigh. I definitely agree that Julia Seton was meant to be dreadful. But I've always felt it was overdone. It's the only flaw I can see with Holiday. I just feel when I'm watching it, that she is SO dreadful that them "falling in love" is just not realistic. She needed to be more beautiful I think, so that it just seemed that little bit more likely that he'd be with her. Even though, as a person, she's all wrong for him. I don't know. I think I'm just revolted by Doris Nolan.
