It's that time again to play, "What's your favorite____?" So, what are your favorite moments in Kath's films? Here's my Top 10 -- well, maybe not "top", so to speak (who can pick only 10?!), but the ones that I have to drop everything I'm doing and just watch and awe over whenever it's on: 1.) WOTY/AR BOTH apartment (and car!)scenes!!!! Kissing ( lol) in the dark/canoodling with hubby. KathnSpence in love!*sweatdrop* 2.) Summertime -- the final train scene -- no, shot! -- of her looking back and waving frantically, and then finally her reality sets in and she gazes off... I can cry at the exact same moment every time, on cue! HEART HEART HEART 3.) TPS! -- Dancing on the edge of that little pond with Jimmy under the moonlight. The music (my favorite piece in a movie EVER), the mood, the atmosphere. It's perfection in film form. 4.) GWCTD -- when she tells Hillary to, "Get...permenantly...lost." Can I get a "Hell yeah"!? ;D 5.) Break of Hearts -- yeah, I know, surprised? When she plays the piano at the end to Boyer and he flips out, some things just strike a chord with people and this scene does with me. 6.) Holiday -- oh hell, the entire playroom scene on New Year's. That includes, acrobatics, "Camptown Racetrack *doo-dahhh-doodahhh*", puppet shows, and dancing to music boxes. 7.) TLIW -- "We're Jungle Creatures" (I have the soundtrack to this on my ipod because I'm really cool: Track 11 lol) The score to that scene and when she waves!! Oh, *le sigh* TLIW is such a fall/winter (duh lol) movie. 8.) AR -- HOME MOVIE!!!!! AKA 2 married dorks kissing trees, a barn, and each other! 9.) Desk Set -- Kath's rendition of "Night and Day" to the bongos is the best I've heard so far. 10.) TAQ -- Rosie and Charlie's first kiss! Yay victory! There's more, but I'll let you guys have them! Hurray for lists! ;D

oooh cool thread! ok, there are so many, but I'll have a go:
1. Woman of the Year - 'I thought you might want to kiss me goodbye', at the airport. OMG. Swoon.
2. Bringing up Baby - 'I was born on the side of a hill'. A classic.
3. Holiday - the Dance scene in the playroom and when they go to the window to watch the fireworks and Johnny tries to kiss her. Aww, so sweet.
4. Adam's Rib - The home movie - especially when Amanda comes out of the barn with a bunch of straw in her mouth!
5. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner - Spencer's speech at the end always pulls on the old hearstrings
6 The Lion in Winter - When Eleanor arrives on the boat. Stunning.
7. The Philadelphia Story - Dexter asks/tells Tracy to marry him (again) at the end. 'You're not just saying that to save my face?' 'Ah, it's a pretty face'
8. The African Queen - 'Dear, what is your first name?'
9. Summertime - at the hotel after he tries to convince her that her goblet was an original
10. Bringing up Baby - the jail scene 'Swingin' Door Suzie's the name'
Makes me just want to go and watch all these films again right now!!

I also jam out to Chinon/Eleanor's Arrival. . I know! It made me want to go and watch all of 'em again for the 98348275892458438756 time too, but contrary to popular belief, I have a life. Imagine!

The scene where Spencer first meets Katharine and she is adjusting her stockings . The way they look at each other is priceless . I reckon in real life Katharine made sure that they did that scene a few times just to emphasise what great legs she had .
The morning after in The African Queen - dear what is your name

Oh, how to pick 10. Easier to pick 100, but I'll give it a shot - some will likely be repeats of what Gem and metrostah and Smith have offered, but I'll throw in some new ones for good measure: ALICE ADAMS - After the disaster of a dinner - "A penny for your thoughts...no a rose...a poor, dead rose" She's so embarrassed and so hurt and is trying to hide it but can't as the tears come to her eyes (another sensational George Stevens closeup). Where, oh where, was her Oscar for this movie? LITTLE WOMEN - Can't remember the exact line, but it's when she's up in the attic and Laurie has just run down the stairs to go get Marmee and she kneels down by the banister and prays "If you must take her please wait till Marmee gets here...Only please God. Don't. Well...just don't." LONG DAY'S JOURNEY - Talking to Cathleen, sitting in the chair, telling her about meeting James Tyrone, willing herself to look all of 18. And then moments afterward, falling in a stupor out of the chair and bringing us right back to the awful moment she finds herself in. Trying to pray in that monotone devoid of spririt. Where, oh where, was her Oscar for this movie? WOMAN OF THE YEAR - Look Sam.....I'm looking. 'nuf said. ADAM'S RIB - Breakfast in bed where she chugs that full glass of juice in about 10 seconds and then has to catch her breath to speak......dripping egg on her chin and wiping it off. ST rubbing his stubble and putting his glasses on. SUMMERTIME - Oh. Hell. The whole damned movie. Okay, a scene, huh? Early on after she's tried to invite herself out with the Yaegers. One of my favorite Kate scenes ever. Just her on that veranda. Feeling so blue and alone.....Another scene: When she and Renato go out dancing and she sees another woman stroke her man's hair and copies it with Renato....Another scene: If you don't take me to see the lace making I'll never kiss you again. Yes you will. Yes, I guess I will. BRINGING UP BABY - Susan, you've got to get out of this apartment. But David, I caaahn't. I have a lease. THE PHILADELPHIA STORY - Oh. Hell. The whole damned movie. A scene, huh? When she's dancing with George at the party: In China it's later than that. In China we'd be married by now....Or maybe it's only yesterday. There was a Chinese poet who drowned trying to kiss the moon in the river. He was drunk...But he wrote beautiful poetry......Or. How bout when Dexter sidles up to her in the car and she moves ever so slightly closer.....Always found that scene to be very sensual. WITHOUT LOVE - Books are more important than pajamas DRAGON SEED - Can't remember the words exactly but I love the scene when Turhan Bey comes to her and is trying to woo her and says he will give her anything she desires and she says: Give me a book. That is what I want. I love how intimate and loving this scene is. How she's not afraid to tell him what she feels and how he is not afraid to break tradition and hear her. Of course, he wants to get her in the sack....But I think the two of them are wonderful in this scene cause they show a genuine loving and warm feeling toward each other.

Well - guys -- I like everything that you have posted and it's impossible to rank or choose only ten but I'll try to add a couple more.
The Philadelphia Story -- Tracy and Mike dancing on the edge of the garden pond. And, Tracy in the long white Adrian robe walking along the edge of the swimming pool looking like a goddess.
Summertime -- Jane looking out of the window of the pensione for the first time and being overwhelmed by the beauty of the city -- sensory overload beautifully portrayed.
The Lion in Winter -- Eleanor and her mirror -- "How beautiful you make me."
Long Day's Journey into Night -- Mary alone in the house walking down the hallway next to the stairs -- so desperately lonely and lost and knowing what awaits her when she ascends those stairs.
Woman of the Year -- the first meeting when after Tess straightens her stocking and Sam oggles her legs, she stands up, smiles and looks him in the eye and gives it right back to him with a wicked game of eyeball tennis.
On Golden Pond -- "You're my knight in shining armor"
Sea of Grass -- In the sleigh with Brice Chamberlain -- Lutie is lonely, vulnerable and she just needs someone to love her -- and she lets down all her defences.
Bringing Up Baby -- "I was born on the side of a hill!" and she does that little march.
Holiday -- In the playroom, when Linda talks about "This room, this room" and reveals what it means to her.
Without Love -- the final scene when she nuzzles Pat's ear as he is at last admitting to her that he loves her. She and Spencer are both terrific in that scene.

Oh, I just thought of a couple more! They're both with ST, but hell, I love 'em.
Without Love -- When she gets a little light-headed on all the oxygen intake and stands on her head and and rambles, "intake, outake, etc!" OR.. Spence playing the Clair de Lune and Kath listening on the staircase and then there's that closeup with the little tears in her eyes. Such a beautiful scene.
and AR (again) -- In her office, Adam calls her: *ring ring* "Yah." "Heelllllooooooo Honeyyy." *giggles* "Hello... Hello husband." "You've been on my mind, baby." "How've you been keeping yourself?" "Hmm, I've been resting up after a long night's..." "ADAM." LMAO. OMG. Is he talking about what I think he's talking about? *wink wink* *nudge nudge* ;D

Only ten huh?
WITHOUT LOVE--the scene on the train where Kate is in her bunk, snuggled up to the window.
LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT--the scene on the swing where Mary says she need to go to the store and James immediately accuses her of being in cahoots with the pharmacist & that he's supplying her with the morphine. She explains that she needs tooth powder, etc. and she covers her face with ther hands and crys. Very sad.
UNDERCURRENT--the part where that jerk tries to run Kate and her horse off of the mountain side and she cries out--tugs at the heart strings.
BRINGING UP BABY--swingin' door Suzy. Need I say more?
LION IN WINTER--when Eleanor arrives on the boat and when she leaves on the boat.
WOMAN OF THE YEAR--Sam and Tess first meet in the office...Tess was a babe.
ALICE ADAMS--the dinner scene with Hattie McDaniel was absolutely hilarious. Okay, not exactly a Kate moment..sue me.
HOLIDAY--the scene at the window where they ring in the new year.
THE PHILADELPHIA STORY--the scene at the library and then the one in the pool where Tracy explains what 'yare' means. Oh and when she says "oh we're going to talk about me are we? Goody."
ADAM'S RIB--Adam and Amanda driving to work.

ON GOLDEN POND. Ethel telling Norman about how she could see him laid out in Bradshaw's Funeral Parlor. How'd I look? Not good, Norman. And then it goes from that funny line into quite an unexpectedly moving moment as she talks about not being so scared of death and then just says "I don't know" and hugs him.
PAT AND MIKE. When Pat comes to Mike's office for the first time and she tells him she was 8 years at Pacific Tech. Wassamatter, you couldn't graduate? ....No...I was faculty.

Haha stixx, those are good ones. TLIW is one of my fav Kath films mostly because of all that sharp, witty dialogue.
"The day Richard gets the throne is the day when pigs fly!" "They'll be pork in the treetops come morning!"
Or how about Kate's face when Henry tells her that he want to annul her!

OK, off the top of my head -- and of course there are more than 10 and these are in no particular order (and the ones that I'm not thinking of aren't any less important.... ;D )
The Philadelphia Story -- the scene in the back, dancing on the edge of the pond, the lovely drunken Kate in Jimmy Stewarts arms. That kiss. . . "Golly". . . "Golly Moses" ;D One of the best scenes ever. Bringing Up Baby -- Swingin' Door Suzy and then of course "Look at me! Da da da da da da da da On the side of a hill, I was born on the side of a hill" lol lol I forgot about "But I caaahn't! I have a lease." There are so many great moments in that movie. Oh and of course in the parking lot.
Long Day's Journey into Night -- The scene with Cathleen exactly as Judy put it. And... "I HATE DOCTORS!!!" and a spoon goes flying. The first time I saw that I started laughing uncontrollably. ;D Woman of the Year -- In the apartment, "You're just a bundle of nerves, aren't you?" The whole scene..... *melts*
Adam's Rib -- Yeah, the drive to work. And the scene in the morning. I'll steal Judy's description again ;D She's so good at that.
Summertime -- Really . . . I can't pinpoint one moment. The whole thing. Does that count?
Guess Who's Coming To Dinner -- Of course the Hillary moment! I love it.
Morning Glory -- The entire party scene.

I can't pinpoint one moment. The whole thing. Does that count? Guess Who's Coming To Dinner -- Of course the Hillary moment! I love it. Morning Glory -- The entire party scene. Steal away, Catherine....:-D Obviously, these scenes get to all of us. Bringing Up Baby....I wonder if he means he likes them or he eats them...Maaahk's so vague at times. The African Queen....After Charlie has been de-leeched by Rosie. He's shivering at the thought of "the little buggers" being all over him and then the moment passes and they both go to opposite sides of the boat with their poles. After one shove, he realizes that he must go back into the water - and she realizes it, too. The look that passes between them - his of fear and resignation and hers of deepest love for the sacrifice of this little man...gets me every time. The African Queen....The topper to that last moment? When the scene cuts to them BOTH in the water - him pulling the Queen, her whacking away at the brush. The Rainmaker....The scene in the barn - the whole scene, but particularly the part where Starbuck is entreating Lizzie to tell him what she sees when she looks in his eyes. She is crying with her head lowered and when she lifts it and looks at him....Oh, Starbuck, is it me? Suddenly, Last Summer .... When the sister-in-law and her son are scavenging/packing up Sebastian's things that Violet has give them and they stay too long and talk too much and at one point the nephew tries to take something he shouldn't - Violet takes a riding crop or something and whips him in the arm and in her best ridiculing, overblown southern accent says: Now H-wha don't ya'll take yoreselves and get outta heah. Or something like that. Long Day's Journey Into Night....When Mary stands in front of them all, describing her dress and how she had to hold her waist in and how it draped. And she makes this sweeping motion with her hand up in the air. She takes such joy from remembering. Then she realizes she has gone a bit over the top and that they are all staring at her and she stops and takes Tyrone's arm. Little Women....Jo running in just as Marmee is leaving and sneaking the $25 onto the table, then telling them about cutting her hair to get the money. Laurie comes in and is shocked (Christopher Columbus!) and Jo gets all defensive and says something like, "It's becoming, boyish and easy to care for" and then rushes out. Little Woman....The topper to that last moment? Jo crying in bed about her hair. A Bill of Divorcement....Sydney floating down the long staircase and right into a dance with Kit without missing a beat. (I've only seen two actresses in my life who could walk down a staircase like that and appear to be floating: Kate and Cherry Jones onstage in The Heiress. I remember when I saw Jones do it, Kate immediately flashed into my mind.) Tracy and Hepburn eating...and eating...and eating.... Breakfast in bed in Adam's Rib (Oh find it in youah's!), on the rooftop (Ahren't you cold?) and in Bunny's apartment in Desk Set (Next time have three), in Pat and Mike (That sure is a nice dress ya got coverin' ya), State of the Union (well, she kept trying to get him to eat)... State of the Union....After that looney lobbyist is ushered out of their room, Grant/Tracy looks up at her from his chair, laughing, and says: Reminds me a little of your brother, Dick. And Mary/Kate kicks him in the shin (ouch) and cracks up....If that wasn't a total Tracy ad-lib to make her laugh, I don't know what was. Adam's Rib....When Amanda kicks Adam in the shin (ouch) :-D Judy

lol Yes what Judy said -- I need to watch AQ again. I've only seen it twice and the last time must have been months ago. I just watched Suddenly, Last Summer though for the second time in almost a year. I still don't count it among my top 10 but I paid better attention to it this time so I appreciate it more The Philadelphia Story -- when Kate interrogates the reporters because she's caught on. Offering Liz a cigarette, then sort of offering Macaulay a cigarette and putting away the case before he could get the chance to take one (or was it a light?). TPS -- The scene in the car after leaving Dexter's -- when Dexter finds here there asleep. I think Judy pointed this one out already. But it's so great I have to mention it again. Yes, very sensual. Oh yeah! The home movie in AR that Gem mentioned. I can't wait to get A Bill of Divorcement!! Maybe it will come today.

It's hard to pick what ten moments I like best. I'll give it a go. 1. Little Woman, whenever she says "Christopher columbus!" 2. Bringing up Baby, "When you hear the tone the time will be__,"ding. 3. B.U.B. When the back of her dress rips off. 4. The African Queen, "I never dreamed any mere physical experiance could be so stimulating!" 5. The Pilly. Story, when Tracy and Mike are dancing on the water fountain. 6. Alice Adams, "The crying scene at the window after the party. 7. Alice Adams, the whole parlor dance sequence. It's hopeless, but she keeps trying to get attention. 8. Love affair, her entire scene, it's almost the only reason I watch the move. 9. Little Women, when she slids down the banister. 10. Anytime she laughs. I love her laugh!
