Maybe she liked it because she got to wear her normal attire. LOL Sorry.

LITTLE WOMEN ! Love this movie. It was a tad long last night though. I forgot it was 2 hours. I was up till almost 2 am (which isn't that unusual for me except I woke up at 6:30 that morning).

Quality Street: The first time I saw it! On TCM. It's about time I was home the same time Kate movie was on. It was okay... Not one of my favorites. :/ But it was awesome to finally see a Kate movie I haven't seen before! I was very excited. I had to tape it. So that makes 30 out of... 53! Man... I still have 20 more to go.

Quality Street has been my least favorite Kate movie so far. I'm like you Catherine. I get very excited about seeing a KH movie for the first time. I taped The Rainmaker today and am just dying to watch it. I'm going to count how many of her movies I have seen...
23. Wow, that's not even half. I have some major movie watching to do! Everyone count how many KH films you've seen-the person with the most gets a prize ;D

A few days ago I bought Stage Door Canteen for $1 at Wal-Mart. I was happy I found it at such a low price. I haven't watched it yet, but I'm excited, even if she's only on for a short while.
I have to go back there and see if I can find any of her other movies, particularly her early ones.

Wow! I need to go look through those $1 bins. I got A Farewell to Arms and His Girl Friday from there but have yet to watch it. It was an impulse buy. I'm sure the quality is crap. Kate is in Stage Door Canteen for a mere 10 minutes (if that). But you still have to see it. It's a ...touching scene. ;D
I'm sure Judy has us all beat (or smith) with Kate movies. They seem to be the top aficionados of the group, constantly pulling out random tidbits of information from their private sources that they won't mention ;D Or from Judy's Katharine Hepburn Museum of History.

You bought that at Wal-Mart?!? Man am I suprised, my Wal-Mart never has anything you want...your's must be one of those picturesque stores that they show on the commercial.
Three cheers for Judy and smith ;D It's great to have access to such huge Kate fans who have a load of info about her!

Well, I can only speak for myself. But I'm twice as old as you guys and so it stands to reason that I would have seen twice as many of her films as you.
No. That really doesn't make any sense at all Judy.
But I HAVE seen them all. Ev'ry last one of 'em and actually have them all in one form or another in the KH museum :-)

I know!! At least someone is around to correct us. ;D Our Walmart has undergone some renovations. I think the guy that used to do marketing for Target took over the marketing for Walmart (hence the Target-like ads). I pay way too much attention to details, I know. I still try to avoid going there at all costs unless I need to get a lot of stuff, then it's all in one place and cheaper. Their movie selection is pretty sparse. It's all the mainstream stuff and in the cheap bins it's movies you've never heard of -- or want to see. They don't have any classics so... my respect for that department is nonexistent. Plus they sell only the edited versions of CDs. No to censorship!!

PS Why does "Ev'ry last one of 'em" remind me of Ginger Rogers? Was that in Stage Door? Hmm......

They don't have any classics so... my respect for that department is nonexistent. Yep, and all those DVDs in the cheap bin are either crushed or abused. Consider it your lucky day if you find one that's not. I like the prices at Wal-Mart. And the fact that they have everything there. Although, they're always crowded. And I hate crowds.

Mrs Delafield wants to marry - a great story and I noticed when I was watching it the small details - how Katharine puts her hair up in her room and the wedding picture - I think its actually a picture of Katharine in the Lake

How I envy you Smith - I just LOVE this film, one of my absolute Kate favourites and although I've seen it several times, I haven't had the opportunity to do so for quite some years now. I think you're right about the photo though, if memory serves me right.
As well as the interesting storyline and good backup support (great acting by Denholm Elliot), I love the way this film gives us a chance to see what we imagine the real Kate must have been like in the latter years of her life. We can even allow ourselves to be a little voyeuristic in such scenes as the one with her sitting up in bed with her hair down. Laura Lansing has similar "personal scenes" (excercise bike etc) but for some reason I don't enjoy it as much as Mrs D
I guess too, I like the old-fashioned romance in Mrs D - if the Doctor's role had been fluffed out a little more and had he lived, it would have made a great Kate & Spence film. Do you reckon she was thinking of him in that very last shot when they're cuddled up together and Kate literally purrs "perfect"?

If you read the Prideaux book he said he wanted Katharine to make a romantic movie - a good love story and that's what Katharine wanted as well .
In one of the letters that Katharine wrote after Spencer's death she commented how difficult it is to be without a partner after 26 years ( my paraphrase ) . I think that there is a certain poigancy in the film because at the beginning of the film Mrs Delafield is thinking about her late husband - she doesn't say that but there is scene where she looks at the photograph and Katharine shows what she is thinking without saying anything .
Its a great film

I envy you both! I'm more interested in seeing those two after reading your comments on them. Guess I'll have to look harder now -- maybe actually have to shop online. Now I think maybe I'm not the only one who tends to think about what the real Kate might have been like when I watch her films. For example... Woman of the Year, one of my favorites. I just love seeing the two of them together in that movie. The sparks are flying. It is sort of voyeuristic. We're watching them fall in love on-screen and Kate is sexier than ever. As for crowds, Richard, I'm with you. Crowds didn't used to bother me when I was in NY because... you can't avoid them! I guess you sort of block them out of your mind and are contained in your own bubble -- which isn't always a good thing! Now that I'm in Kansas, I'm very aware of my surroundings and relish open spaces and nature. Too much going on at one time and I get the hell out of there! Unless of course it's a club. Then I'm there. After a few Long Beach Ice Teas (or Scotch and soda which I tried only because of Kate and I must say, it's rather tasty. I'm sure the kind she had is much smoother). ;D
