How much did her house in New York City on 49th street sell for?

Hmm... interesting. She bought it for like $40,000 didn't she? In the thirties. I'm sure even if Katharine Hepburn didn't live in it, it would go for over a million since it's in midtown Manhattan. I thought I read somewhere that her brother or nephew bought it. They should make it into a museum.

Think Garson Kanin mentions a size 7? Will have to go and check though..
I'd like to know more about her New York house though. I can't remember the selling price off hand, but I hadn't heard before that a relative bought it - can anyone confirm this?

It was brought by an admirer - can't remember the selling price but it was in the millions . I always thought it sad that the Hepburn family sold Fenwick but it needed a lot of repair work done and the taxes to mantain it were enormous .

Hmm small feet! I'm the same height and I wear a 9 - 9 1/2. Or maybe I just have big feet. I read somewhere that it was a relative but you can't always believe what you read (obviously).
Did anyone go to the unveiling/ceremony of Katharine Hepburn Place? I'd like to see more pictures... besides the ones on the Kate the Great site... and know what was said.

I know somebody who attended - maybe they will post when they have the time .
Katharine had a long association with Turtle Bay - she and Luddy lived there and in about 1937 she purchased the house . Before that they lived in Murray Hill . I walked past the house in 1996 - I was amazed that Katharine Hepburn lived in a suburban New York street . Only she could get away with it .

When did Katharine admit her real birthdate? Was it in 1991 when her autobiography was published or was it even earlier than that?

Re shoe size - there's a pair of boots for sale in the Sotheby Catalogue which are size 8. I assume this is USA size 8, but as they're made in Italy for Bally of London, it's difficult to be sure.
Re New York house - it sold for 3.9 million which was around 1 million under the initial asking price. Love to know whether the buyer's made any alterations or plans to resell it or whatever....

I'm so bored I've thought of a question.
Has she ever been robbed, anything ever been stolen that belonged to her? Although I remember reading about a little incident involving her walking around a set with... well how should I put this... only underroo's because somebody took a piece of clothing that belonged to her. Anything else besides that?

Yes, she did have a full length portrait of herself stolen from her townhouse in NY. It was cut from the frame and never recovered.
