After many months I finally got to go! It was an amazing time, we stayed right in Hollywood and walked everywhere. lol I went by the road that led to Hepburn/Tracy's house but did not go up. I was exahusted and felt since I was on foot might get arrested for trespasing.
If you are ever in Hollywood/LA go to the Hollywood Museum on Hollywood Blvd (there are 2). Its a bit expensive ($15) but if you have lunch at Mel's diner next door you get $3 off (the food is good and priced cheap). The museum is in the old Max Factor building. Much of the building is perserved as it was in the 50's from the make-up vanities to the bathrooms. I was expecting more Hepburn but sadly only found 3 displays. Monore sill owns Hollywood, she is EVERYWHERE.
The first floor has the make-up rooms split up by hair color, there are gowns and make-up sets from Monore (of course), Ball, Hayworth, Crawford, Garland, Rogers, West etc. Plus props, autographs, and a movie theater.
The second floor is the display floor. Many gowns and vehicles are here. Before it was a museum they stored cars by loading them onto a massive fright elevator. On display they had Monroe's Caddy and Harlow's Rolls. They have Cary Grants car but it was in storage. It was "Harlow at 100" and 1/2 of the floor was all her clothes and personal items including the infamous Ignatieff Mural. Also on the second floor were displays of stars getting stars, Katharine Hep's union cards, Oscar nominations, Mae West's shoes, Bob Hopes suits, Twilight props...I could go on and on. There was so much I'm kicking myself for not spending more time in there.
The basement is the 'horror' film area. I didn't go down, just not my thing.
I also went to the Hollywood Forever Cemetary. I tired to get into Westwood Cemetery but I just couldn't get there. Grauman's Chinese theater was really neat. If you are in town go see a show at Grauman's Eqyptian Theater a few blocks away. This weekend they are having a Ginger Rogers film festival for her 100th birthday! I came the wrong week
I'm linking my facebook album with all the Hollywood pics. I put it as 'open' so everyone can view it. I'm still adding pics so there will be more...I took A LOT of photos.
