TCM's Summer Under the Stars is back! And they have a day devoted to Kate on August 20th! www.tcm.com/2010/suts/index.jsp#/katharinehepburn/bioAnd one for Lauren Bacall on August 25th! www.tcm.com/2010/suts/index.jsp#/laurenbacall/bioUnfortunately, I will be out of town traveling through August. I only just got TCM through my cable in my apartment near my university (I never used to get the channel at my parents house, so I've never been able to watch TCM until recently) Just my luck. I've always wanted to see this.

I'm so mad, here in Portugal we don't get the regular TCM, we get the European TCM which starts at 8 pm and shows mostly films from the 70's... so, no 'Summer under the stars' for me..

Not only does European TCM start broadcasting at 8 pm, but it has totally different films from the regular TCM . It would have been so great to spend the whole day watching Kate's films, the majority of which I can't buy or download anyway. Oh damn....

so i had my dvr record a few of yesterday's gems that i'm parceling out, bit by bit, through the day today. have been enjoying "without love" in bits and pieces so far .. next up "bringing up baby" and then, of course, "philadelphia story". i have many of these on DVD but no player at the moment ... so TCM gives me some recorded kate. yea.

I watched her films yesterday even though I own them because its just different watching them on tv for some reason! Plus I was watching them with some online friends from Tumblr which made it ten times more fun. Yesterday was great! Oh and I finally got to record Sea of Grass so yay!

Martha - and anyone else located in NYC - Bringing Up Baby is on Reel 13 tonight, I think at 8:00, but could be 9:00. So you can watch Susan torment David all over again later on. My TV was on for 24 hours and I, too, watched em all. We are certifiable. But I am, perhaps, uber-certifiable because I literally woke at 6 yesterday and watched Spitfire. Then slept through Christopher Strong, which - if forced to choose (and I WAS cause I was still sleepy) - I would say is my personal least favorite Kate movie - then watched em all during the day and finally conked out just before Tracy remarried Dexter. Then awoke to Jane falling into the canal and watched till she was on the train home. Would I be accused of bias if I said that having the opportunity to watch her for 24 hours straight - from the less than, shall we say, critically acclaimed films to the popular crowd pleasers - continued to reveal just how good she was/is? Yeah, guilty as charged. I adore Quality Street. More each time I see it. And, Shaundercurrent, I agree with you on that one and disagree with those who say they can't buy a terrorized, controlled Kate. I think she was just swell. I could go on, but I'd be exposing my bias again...and this is a family board. Judy

That's awesome ;D I unfortunately had to work (watched some of W/o Love, TPS, BUB and Summertime) but my mother saw All About Me for the first time, she was really fascinated and may well be a new Hepburn convert. Which is why days like these should exist!
Also, whoever said it was fun to watch them on TV even with DVDs two feet away...totally agree there.

LOL My mother watched a bit of AAM with me and she couldn't believe that early 30's Hepburn was Hepburn.
