Well dude [please don't think I'm being an asshat], I can see where they were coming from. How can one have an opposing view on something that is fact? I mean, that's like saying I think that dog over there is a KITTY, because, you know, that's my opinion. No pal, that's your version of the truth; kick and scream all you want to, but it's the wrong one. So, you end up saying, "Screw all others who are tying to clear up my fog or at least share their insights!" Snippy. It's frustrating. That's why I don't frequent that type of board. Hopeless.
The facts don't always convey the truth. Why don't you go over there by the ambiance and try to make sense of that statement and let me finish my story.
Oh life.
I should have PMed this to you and for that I apologize, but mayhap my post will end the public discussion of this. You brought it up here. I'll delete this if you wish. I make it a point to not frustrate my life fighting other people's battles, but this is the first time I've ever had a major conflit with that.
I think you're fundamentally a good guy, man. I understand that people our age can get too heated and melodramatic and overzealous about things, and that's fine, but... take the blinders off a little. Just sayin'!
Bunk.

She's my absolute favourite actress. I love more than any other actress, actor, dead or alive.

I didn't read most of this thread due to tiredness to be honest lol but I did read the first few posts. I enjoyed reading Richard's and Shaun's first replies. One of you (sorry I'm not going back and looking now haha) mentioned Ginger Rogers as a favourite - rare to see in someone's favourite list but she's definately up there in my top 10! I think she was one of the most underrated dramatic actresses of her time. That was really cool to read. I think my favourite Ginger film (Astaire films aside) was I'll Be Seeing You. Brilliant performance if and of you get the chance! There are lots of Bette Davis fans. I have not had a chance to look at her works yet although there is a DVD box set sitting on my desk ready to watch in my school holidays and I cannot wait! It seems as though lots of Kate fans are Davis fans and it's the general consensus that us Kate fans have similar interests so with that in mind - I have a feeling I'm going to fall in love with Bette and I'm looking forward to watching her films for the first time! Loads of Betty Bacall fans out there too as per wonderfully usual! And holla for all the Judy Garland fans! Another of my favourites is Lucille Ball. I'm lucky enough to have my two of my favourite gorgeous gals in one film ( The Mirror Has Two Faces). Barbra Streisand and Lauren Bacall. To quote La Streisand, "How lucky can you get"?! My first love was for Barbra so she'll always be number 1 in my heart but she is very close to Kate now. I love collecting, so my room is filled with Streisand treasures, framed posters and pictures etc.. I'd love to have a Kate collection but it's so difficult so I've got to settle for her DVDs - Speaking of DVDs - I cannot believe Kate is AFI's #1 actress and not all of her movies are redily available on DVD: pathetic effort DVD maker people! lol I don't know how the Kate movie situation works because I havent seen more than half of them to know who they were made by but they've got to get into gear so we can all go and buy them for $10 at our local Target store. Redily available please, not Amazon.com - in stores if DVD manufacturers are reading! To be honest (don't tell any of my fellow Barbra fans) my decision changes daily. One day I might be watching Woman of the Year and think 'gee Kate is really fantastic' but then I might watch Funny Girl and think 'Barbra's first movie, she was so young and a well deserved Academy Award winning performance! Wow!' AND isn't it an awesome coincidence that it was Kate that shared that very Oscar win with Barbra. I never knew that until I was a Kate fan! In the words of Barbra, 'Just for the Record'; I abso-freaking-loutely LOVE..... [glow=red,2,300] Katharine Hepburn[/glow] Jess

Yeah, she grows on you a lil' bit. Like mold.
(Also, check out Barbara Stanwyck. If you're a Kate fan, you will most definitely be a Miss fan. Davis is up in the air, as I prefer Joan, but both are a helluva lot of fun. And years ago I could never imagine myself saying this, but Missy has more range than ol' Miss Pudd. Stanwyck, she becomes every role; with Hep, every role becomes Kate.)
BUT I LOVE EM BOTH EQUALLY.
(Howevs, Kate'll always be my #1; I'm stuck with her for life.)

oh yeah, you're a Joany fan? I havent seen her movies or Barbara's yet. I think it's because when I was a youngen I was only into comedy and/or musicals so I never really gave the dramatic gals a chance. Oy vey, I don't know that I could take another Barbara on board but I have the same feelin' I'll love her lol in fact, I don't know that I've seen too many of her DVDs available in stores over this way.. I'll have to check it out!

After reading Jess' post I of course had to go back and read my original post in this thread. God! I cringe at every one of my old posts! Looking at this message board is like looking at an old year book, and everyone of my pictures are hideous.
With that said, I've watched very few Kate movies this year. Probably like 2 or 3 total. She's still my number one and always will be. Without her I wouldn't be the classic movie fan I am today.

Hehe.. was it you Shaun that mentioned Ginger? A year book.. that's a good way of describing it lol! I haven't much Kate the past few months. I think it's probably due to the fact that I overdone it a bit earlier in the year.. you know when you first watch a movie and then watch it every day for the following month... I do it every time lol so now I kinda get Kate movies out and watch snippits - just my favourite bits Jess Jess

Well this place is a dandy little archive. I don't want to go deleting part of our history. Even if everything I've said has been forgettable crap.
The only Kate movies I've watched this year have been Morning Glory, Stage Door, Without Love and Keeper of the Flame. I know this for fact because my New Years resolution was to keep a record of every movie I watch. Proud to say I've been keeping it up dutifully!!

Kate is my number but Bette is my close second, shoot me for liking her I guess! I think she is one of the best actresses if not the best in all cinema history but everyone can have their own thoughts about her since this would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing. Here's my top five though I hate making lists because I love everyone:
Kate Bette davis Gloria Swanson Judy Garland Barbara Stanwyck
I love alot more people but those are my five actresses.

Thanks for the update Shaun! Great list there. Awesome to see Dame Judi Dench in there. I love her also. I think if I had to choose anyone besides Helen Mirren to play the Queen I'd choose Dame Judi for sure!
You wrote a list of every movie you've watched this year or just Kate ones? that's impressive!!!
